Houston, TX. – -(Ammoland.com)- A group of current, and former NRA Directors as well as a number of concerned life members led by current Board member Judge Phillip Journey, former Board members Rocky Marshall and Bill Dailey, and board candidate Frank Tait, are:
Calling on former NRA Board member, Lieutenant Colonel (US Army, Ret) Allen West to stand for election as Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association at the NRA Board meeting on Monday, May 30, 2022.
This would be the second time in Wayne LaPierre’s 31-year tenure as EVP that he was challenged.
Former NRA Board member Rocky Marshall said, “We need a new leader who will work to resolve the outstanding litigation in New York and the District of Columbia. Only then will the NRA be able to effectively serve all members, especially in the crucial upcoming elections, and get the NRA back to serving our members and reaching out to the 7.5 million new gun owners since 2019. We think Allen West is that leader.”
Former NRA Board Member Bill Dailey said, “The verified pleadings in the New York Attorney Generals litigation and evidence thus far questioning the propriety of Wayne Lapierre’s leadership requires the Board of Directors to exercise their fiduciary duty to select a replacement who is able provide the leadership to effectively and properly represent NRA members and protect the Second Amendment in the future.”
Current NRA Board member, Hon. Phillip Journey stated: “After watching the NRA’s Bankruptcy hearings, reviewing the evidence presented and New York law, I have concluded that the likelihood of the NYAG winning her lawsuit against Wayne La Pierre and the other defendants is very high. If she wins, they will be prohibited from serving in any NY non-profit. Wayne will be removed from office by court order. As an NRA member and a member of its Board of Directors I have a duty to plan for that contingency.”
“I know Col. Allen West will make a great Executive Vice President of the NRA. Col. West is a nationally recognized advocate for the Second Amendment. He has extensive political experience and a record of speaking out on the NRA Board of Directors for the reform and the restoration of the National Rifle Association.”

When I talk with my friends and shooting partners there is one universal attitude toward NRA: not one dime until LaPierre is gone. I belong to a pretty influential collectors group out here and they are all life members but will not send one dime to NRA until there is a clean up. I hope some board members listen. Folks have had it. Dedicated, long time life members have had their fill.
As a manager I quickly learned I didn’t need to know every position in the company. To get things done hire and promote the best and eliminate company politics. West will determine what’s best for the NRA and not individuals or venders. He will LEAD, not take.
It’s ironic that an attack on the NRA should be the tool to save the NRA from it’s Exec VP. We need new leadership, bring back the people Wayne fired and change the by laws to force new leadership every 10 years
West would do better as an interim executive V.P. And there should be a term limit on the position.
Folks, we absolutely need a candidate to run against Wayne, and it has to be someone with proven integrity, political experience, a solid understanding of our issues — inside and outside the NRA — and the possibility of actually winning. LTC West fits the bill. He might not be the “perfect” candidate, but no one is. First and foremost, we need LaPierre out. From there, we can begin the process of reorganizing the NRA into the organization it should be. Rejecting West because there might be someone else that might be a better choice, is just surrendering in advance of… Read more »
Yes indeed WLP needs to go in the worst way. I hope the consortium of former NRA Directors and concerned life members have a winning formula. If successful I hope the first order of business will be a forensic audit of everything.
Elected politicians have proven time and time again that working together with the military and corporate contractors has been some of their biggest failures in spending & strategies. Yes this country has made some awesome weapons and the best military on the planet no issue there. This man has a good military record a awesome service history how does that qualify him for dealing in the corporate & political environment. Washington eats it own as we have seen nothing is off the table when it comes to making up shit about their adversaries.Past military personal quickly become targets of propaganda… Read more »
I will gladly support LtC West without reservation! It is clearly time for a change and I fully endorse him for the job.

Only the 2nd challenge to his “leadership” (thievery would be a more appropriate term) in 31 years? As an organization, what does this tell you about the NRA? The NRA keeping LaPierre in charge for 31 years and continuing to let him pillage the coffers is like hiring and maintaining Dr. Jack Kevorkian as administrator over a elderly care facility.
I am glad this discussion is happening. The Association belongs to its members and without their engagement …… well, it doesn’t work as well. I made my concerns known on August 1st 2019 and they have not changed. The Association’s importance can not be overstated. So let’s see where all these conversations go and what happens or doesn’t at the members meeting.
