Un-Happy Holidays: Moms Demand Arguments at Dinner Table

Moms Demand Action, the Michael Bloomberg-backed gun prohibition lobbying group, appears to be trying very hard to win the “Grinch” award by posting a message on “X” (formerly Twitter) which encourages family arguments over the Thanksgiving Day dinner table, and throughout the holiday season.

The intent seems designed to spark holiday hostility:

“Frustrated by misinformed relatives around the dinner table this holiday season? At your next gathering, be ready to fork over the facts about guns and gun violence in America. Learn more about myths and facts here.”

Readers are then directed to click on a link taking them to an Everytown for Gun Safety website headlined “Debunking Gun Myths at the Dinner Table.”

Unsurprisingly, much of the “myth debunking” information is largely based on Everytown research.

The first Everytown “Myth” to be debunked is presented as something of a half-truth, no doubt unintentionally.

“Myth: Criminals will always find a way to get their hands on a gun.”

“Fact: Laws like background checks stop gun sales to criminals every day. Since 1994, these laws have blocked more than 4 million gun sales to people who could not legally own guns.”

This tells half, or perhaps less than half, of the story. Dr. John Lott, founder and CEO of the Crime Prevention Research Center, has raised alarms about background check false positives, even while testifying before Congress. The gun control lobby does not want Americans paying any attention to this problem.

The statement also ignores the fact that seasoned criminals don’t bother with background checks. Criminals get their firearms through illicit sources. And just because someone is turned away on a NICS check does not mean they give up and go home. Someone with criminal intent will find an alternative means of getting a firearm. Just check Police Blotter reports like this one from Seattle.

Here’s another example that is, at best, misleading: “Myth: Strong gun laws don’t work. Look at Chicago.”

“Fact: Chicago proves why we must push for strong federal gun laws. Many of the crime guns recovered in Chicago and in other cities in states with strong gun violence prevention laws can be traced back to states with weaker gun laws.”

This amounts to “bait and switch.” Extremist gun laws like the ones promoted by the anti-gun lobby do not work in Chicago or anywhere else. That is why the Everytown message suddenly becomes, “Chicago proves why we must push for strong federal gun laws.”

Check the website Heyjackass.com to learn about this year’s body count. So far, in 2023, at least 526 people have been fatally shot in the Windy City. Another 2,295 have been shot and wounded. Last year, more than 660 people were shot dead and more than 2,900 were wounded.

Seattle is another example of the failure of strong gun laws, as Ammoland News has previously reported. Since the city adopted a gun and ammunition tax, the number of homicides has more than doubled. At last count, the X site “Seattle Homicide” listed 69 slayings in the Jet City. There is still more than a month remaining in the year. Earlier this year, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms—pointing to the annual report from the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs showing a dramatic rise in homicides last year—suggested the laws should be repealed because they have “failed miserably.”

So, now comes the Moms group. Essentially, they demand more discontent between friends and family members during the time of year when people should be coming together instead of moving apart. Promoting division never solved a thing. The gun ban lobby doesn’t concern itself with “goodwill” toward our friends and neighbors. Instead, it thrives on conflict. Their goal of public disarmament overshadows the ability of people to set aside whatever differences they may have over a holiday dinner table and exchange gifts rather than angry remarks.

One is inclined to wonder whether the folks at Moms Demand Action are so embittered about life they are compelled to spread their personal misery. Messages promoting family arguments only mask the gun control policy failures that are evident in the homicide statistics, primarily from larger cities controlled by politicians who almost religiously subscribe to the gun control agenda.

The demanding moms can suck it. Women voters are the reason we lost the election in 2020 and now in this fantastic mess. I hate to say it but I’m starting to think they’re just not intelligent enough to be allowed to vote. They think with their feelings and not their brains.

The discussion around our table will be what new firearms have we brought lately.

“Laws like background checks stop gun sales to criminals every day.” But hunter managed to fill out a 4473 and buy one, meanwhile I fill out a 4473 and get a three day delay because there is a 20 plus years older guy in my town and has a similar name.

The problem with these women is, they haven’t had enough action. They need to be bent over a rail and given some action.

Do like me. Tell your democrap relatives to F off and don’t associate with them, change your will and leave all your crap to the republican person in your family they hate most since it is no longer you because you are dead. If you don’t have kids to leave it to, you can leave it to an organization to help more republicans. They will love that!!!! He he.

Why do these “crime guns” bother to travel to places like Chicago before committing mayhem up to and including murder? Why don’t they avoid all that bother and shoot up the place they come from?

One short but pithy answer is that guns cause crime in exactly the same fashion that rats cause garbage.

Chicago and its kindred Blue cities have their cause and effect backwards.
