Mental illness seems to be rampant in America, and disturbingly, it’s being normalized, if not outright celebrated, by the same people who want to take away your right to self-defense.
The political left has managed to indoctrinate a portion of society and push them into psychological confusion, and in many cases, outright delusion. When a mentally unstable man recently murdered innocent Christian children, the response from the left and their allies in the anti-gun lobby wasn’t to address the mental illness of the killer; rather, it was to double down on their push for more gun control.
The irony? We’re surrounded by violent people, many of whom are emboldened by soft-on-crime policies like bail reform and early release, yet the left believes that the solution is to disarm law-abiding citizens and leave good people helpless in their homes, schools, and communities.
Democrats in Congress, along with the left-wing media, are desperately trying to trick Americans into believing that a disarmed public is a safer one. They want society to view firearms not as a means of protection but as a liability.
All we have to do is look at the numbers, and we understand the importance of armed defense. According to the FBI, there are about 1.2 million violent crimes reported annually in the U.S. Meanwhile, studies from the CDC and Georgetown University estimate that closer to 2 million violent crimes are prevented each year because the victim was armed. Let that sink in for a minute. Nearly two-thirds of violent attacks are potentially stopped because someone had the means to defend themselves. And yet, we’re supposed to believe that if those over 2 million Americans were disarmed, violent crime would somehow drop?
The political left’s strategy seems clear: create a culture of confusion and dysfunction, shake it up, watch it explode, and then use the aftermath to push an agenda of national disarmament. It’s a twisted plan created by people who don’t have the best interests of American citizens in mind. Deranged individuals carry out horrific acts of violence, often as a result of unaddressed psychological problems, and the left immediately exploits the tragedy to call for more laws that only affect the law-abiding. Gun laws for those who didn’t commit the crime, to prevent crimes by those who will never follow them.
Does any of this make sense? Of course not. But some people are so deeply committed to left-wing ideology that they’ll toss logic aside in defense of a narrative they’ve been fed for years. And my question to those who insist that these killers aren’t “mentally ill” is, what else are we supposed to call someone who slaughters innocent people?
The left has spent years normalizing dysfunction in society through media, education, and political rhetoric. From radical climate hysteria to racial agitation to the glorification of gender confusion, they’ve whipped segments of the population into a chronic state of instability. Is it really surprising that people lost in ideological chaos and personal identity crises eventually snap?
What happens when someone wakes up and realizes the worldview they were sold is a lie, but they can’t admit it, because they’ve built their entire identity on it? That’s psychological entrapment, and the left has perfected it.
We’ve already seen two assassination attempts on President Trump, and several attacks on schoolchildren, each perpetrated by individuals who were influenced by leftist ideology and fueled by rage. In every case, the left downplays the motivations, shields the propaganda networks that shaped them, and rushes to the media to demand more gun restrictions.
After a man in Minnesota committed a horrific act of violence against children in a church, anti-gun groups like Moms Demand Action, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Giffords immediately began demanding stricter gun laws. Laws that would have done nothing to stop that specific tragedy. There was no mention of mental illness in any of their social media posts. No discussion of how armed security could have made a difference, either. Just the same tired call to disarm the public.
The truth is obvious. When a church or school is protected by armed security, the likelihood of an attack drops dramatically. But because of laws like Joe Biden’s 1990 Gun-Free School Zones Act, many of these spaces remain soft targets. We’ve not only refused to address the rise in dangerous psychological disorders, but we’ve also created a culture that celebrates them. Instead of learning from repeated tragedies, the political left wants to double down on unarmed helplessness and perpetuate the very disorders that result in violence.
Ask yourself why would someone like Ilhan Omar would respond to a lunatic murdering Christian children and not even mention the mental instability of the attacker?

Why is the conversation always focused on the weapon and never the person wielding it? Every new gun law further chips away at the Second Amendment rights of lawful Americans. Meanwhile, those truly responsible, those in psychological crisis, never seem to be worthy of discussion and are protected by the media. Despite the anti-gun lobby pushing the idea that gun control is the answer, more firearms in the hands of responsible citizens do stop crime. The gun control crowd knows this.
They also know that chaos and fear are useful tools for political control. Disorder serves them in ways that moral people cannot always understand.

LOL, I have news for them. President Trump has a plan. He announced today that he is thinking about making insane asylums part of the system again. I think that would be a good place to put these people that are nuts, so they are not out engaging with society endangering us. OK, I will bite. Your comment” ‘Does any of this make sense? Of course not.’ Correct. I have graduate degrees in political science. When viewed through the lens of political ideology it makes no sense. Anyone who can lean on Marxist ideology after witnessing the genocides and totalitarian destruction of entire nations during the 20th Century could be judged to be ‘insane’ by many standards. As a Christian minister, educator, and counselor, I’m all for addressing the mental, emotional, and spiritual issues that can lead people to commit these atrocities. But as a retired federal agent who volunteers security work for churches, I know that no gun control laws or preventative counseling is going to stop all these attacks. At my church last Sunday, because Oklahoma has more 2A-friendly laws, I and other members of our security team (and even other congregants) were legally armed, and more able to stop an attack such as the recent one at a Catholic school/church in a more restrictive… Read more »
