Maryland –-(AmmoLand.com)- Our first rally during the General Assembly session was a success thanks to the 100 Maryland gun owners who took time out of their day to take our message directly to the legislature.

While we’d obviously have liked to seen 1,000 people there, we realize that every initiative must start somewhere and we look forward to seeing the rest of you there next year.

The speeches delivered by Delegate Smigiel, Delegate Dwyer and Larry Pratt were very inspiring and covered a great deal of ground as it pertains to our rights. We thank them for taking time out of their day and urge you to do so as well. Delegate Eric Bromwell (D – District 8, Baltimore County) and Delegate Wendell Beitzel (R – District 1A, Garrett and Allegheny Counties) also stopped by to visit with members.

Thanks go to all of our Executive Members who had a part in making the day a success, but especially Dan Miller for taking care of the details of the permits and working with the officials in the legislative complex. Executive Member Ron Dominiecki also did an outstanding job preparing our visit to the legislative office buildings where a smaller group of members received an orientation of the locations of the various delegations’ offices so that we can work with them effectively throughout the session.

The blue shirts were an unqualified success and EM Kyle Hopson hit a grand slam on these. We’ve received numerous reports of members eating lunch in town or walking on the sidewalk and having people stop and question what we were doing. So far, all reports seem to indicate a positive response, thus illustrating our longstanding belief that the majority of Maryland citizens believe in our mission.

I can speak to this first hand as a group of EMs were enjoying lunch at Galway Bay between the rally and the tour of the buildings. A lady came up to us and questioned us about our shirts and I wondered at first where this was leading. After our guys explained what we were about, the lady remarked that she thought that we already could get permits with no problem. She will soon be joining MSI.

About:
Maryland Shall Issue is an all volunteer, non-partisan effort dedicated to the preservation and advancement of all gunowners’ rights in Maryland, with a primary goal of CCW reform to allow all law-abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon; and to the education of the community to the awareness that ’shall issue’ laws have, in all cases, resulted in decreased rates of violent crime.”

I sure hope you prevail. I live 1 mile noth fo the MD-DE line. I have a DE CCW permit it is a real pain when you are constantly entering MD for business or to make everyday purchases. On top of that I own a beach house in OC and spend quite a few nights there so traveling back to DE for work .is always a concern. It appears to me that the only right an individual has in Maryland is to be a victim!
