In the aftermath of the shooting incident at Los Angeles International Airport, the American Federation of Government Employees, the labor union that represents 45,000 federal transportation security officers, on Monday urged the Department of Homeland Security’s new secretary and President Barack Obama to create special units of armed TSA security officers with police training and arrest authority while on duty at the nation’s airports.

“The sad truth is that our TSA officers are subject to daily verbal assaults and far too frequent physical attacks,” said Jeffrey David Cox Sr., president of the American Federation of Government Employees. “We feel a larger and more consistent armed presence in screening areas would be a positive step.”

@Bayou Rat: Neither my JHP nor my Custom II have ever been a problem. Hi-Point and Kimber both make fine firearms.

I own a High Point .45. The gun has never jammed. I have put 1,000’s of rounds through it. All sorts of crap ammo. Reloads. +P’s everything. The gun has never jammed. I have a Kimber 1911 .45. It has been nothing but a problem jams all the time. Don’t know why anyone would hate on High Point. There fine weapons and they stand behind there product.

Was a firearms instructor for years & had the unfortunate expierence of students who want the right to defend themselves & they buy a HighPoint. That’s all their life’s worth, a couple of bucks. It’s not of matter of if but when is that gun going to jam. On the first mag or second. After about five rounds have been shot it jams & jams & jams. Tell me exactly what the problem with the Amerikan made Hi-Point gun? DO you have one? Have to fired one? I guess you probably enjoy the chinese communist rifle of choice then, huh?
Don’t knock something you know nothing about.
