A 33-year-old had reportedly forced himself through the home’s back door and attacked the female victim with a sledgehammer and wooden chair.
A 17-year-old passenger pulled a gun and tried to rob the driver. The cab driver pulled out a gun and shot the would-be robber.
You can never tell what a potential intruder is going to do. Normal citizens fall into the trap of believing the criminal will do what they themselves would do if they were the opponent.
The intruder has been charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $102,500 bail.
Police say the suspect could be seen running toward Kenilworth Avenue. Officers brought in a K9 to help track the suspect, but couldn’t locate him.
In the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the intruder had forced entry into the home prior to the victim locating him in the bedroom.
According to police, a 17-year-old male juvenile resident knew the would-be intruder from “previous encounters” and knew the intruder possessed a firearm.

Chasing the suspect out of the home in this incident was really risky. Pursuing criminals is always best left to law enforcement. They have the training, the tools, backup in route and free lawyers.
