Florida – -(Ammoland.com)- In 2011, at the urging of the NRA and Unified Sportsmen of Florida, the Florida Legislature passed HB-155 by Rep. Jason Brodeur & Sen. Greg Evers to stop doctors from interrogating patients about gun ownership.
And prevent them from entering gun ownership information into medical databases — thereby creating a defacto database of gun owners.
Simply put, physicians interrogating and lecturing parents and children about guns is not about gun safety. It is a political agenda to ban guns.
Parents do not take their children to physicians for a political lecture against the ownership of firearms, they go there for medical care.
The final version of the bill which passed both the House and Senate by over 2/3 vote.
However, numerous national level organizations (known to be anti-gun) filed a lawsuit to stop enforcement of the new law and the legal battle has now spanned 4 years. The latest ruling issued yesterday by the 11th District Court of Appeals upheld the law .

Perversion of 2nd amendment and hunting laws: I support the 2nd amendment, own guns and have no issues with hunters; however when they are ‘legally’ allowed to hunt in a subdivision because of a large parcel of “private” property/formerly a golf course it sends a clear statement that hunters have a greater right to pursue sport than residents have rights to safety. As a resident of Florida for over 45 years, I feel very fortunate to have Marion Hammer being a strong advocate for gun rights in our state and for pushing legislation that makes the Second Amendment in our state strong. She is responsible for pushing legislation enacting concealed carry, stand your ground, the castle doctrine, docs and glocks and many more gun right issues over the years.
