Hillsdale, MI —-(AmmoLand.com)- Hillsdale College hosted its inaugural Hillsdale College Constitution Day Celebration and Shooting Festival on Saturday, September 19.

The annual event, held at the Hillsdale College Outdoor Firearms Educational Facility, began with a lecture on the Constitution and the Second Amendment by Associate Professor of History David Raney and a shooting demonstration by Devon Harris, Shooting Promotions Manager from Federal Premium Ammunition Company.

This was followed by an outdoor barbecue, supervised shooting by attendees, a competition and a raffle.

“We are delighted to host the Constitution Day Celebration and Shooting Festival,” said Hillsdale College President Larry Arnn. “It’s a great opportunity for students and others from around the country to learn more about our constitutional heritage.”

Federal Premium Ammunition Company and AcuSport Corporation, one of the leading distributors of outdoor and shooting sports products in the nation, sponsored the event. It was open to students, faculty, NRA members and supporters of Hillsdale College.

“Hillsdale College is a one of a kind academic institution in that it combines practical firearms training with courses about the Second Amendment by top professors. We are happy to support their important work,” said Bill Fraim, CEO of AcuSport.

Proceeds from the estate of Roland L. Ebersole were dedicated toward the purchase and development of a 77-acre outdoor firearms educational facility three miles from the Hillsdale campus. When complete, the facility will include two international trap fields, two American trap fields, a sporting clay field, an outdoor rifle and pistol range and a clubhouse. The facility is already in regular use by Hillsdale College students enrolled in a one-credit course on Basic Shotgun.

In addition to the facility, the Roland L. Ebersole Scholarship was established to provide up to full tuition for qualified students who belong to the NRA or other shooting advocacy clubs or organizations.

Hillsdale College includes in its core curriculum a one-semester course on the U.S. Constitution and will continue to emphasize the importance of the Second Amendment through courses and other activities at its Outdoor Firearms Educational Facility.
