Albuquerque, NM –-(Ammoland.com)- 5.11 Tactical sent a new pair of their Speed 2.0 boot for review.
The Speed boot has recently been redesigned. 5.11 Tactical upgraded the sole to the same one they put on their ATAC boot, which runs about $20 more, and I think it’s an excellent addition to this functional low-cost tactical footwear.
I’ve worn the Speed 2.0 boots to the range to see how they work for shooting. The insole is firm, but not hard, so it absorbs shock without as much give as you’ll get in a tennis shoe. The heel is a little higher than the ball of the foot, which gives you a solid and stable platform for shooting.
When I wear cross-trainers or tennis shoes there’s always a little rocking motion to the rear in the heel area of the shoe. I usually have to fight this to get a stable platform. The Speed 2.0 boots encase my ankle and give me a really good platform for tactical and defensive style shooting, which I really appreciate.
Overall I feel these are a great boot to wear for security style work and firearms training as well as outdoor activities. In the video I talk about how the boots performed on my fifteen-hour day the first time I put them on. I’m very happy with the initial performance, and I’ll add more videos, including range time, to show how they wear under extended use.
