Charlotte, NC –-(Ammoland.com)- This Wednesday, April 23, the Virginia General Assembly is meeting for its reconvened session to consider gubernatorial amendments and vetoes.
It is critical that you contact your state Senator and Delegate and urge them to vote to REJECT the Governor’s anti-gun amendment to Senate Bill 377.
As previously reported, on April 7, Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) returned an NRA-opposed amendment to SB 377, which would create a de-facto gun registration scheme for those seeking to sell, trade or transfer their lawfully owned firearms to a gun dealer. While SB 377, as passed and sent to the Governor, requires a gun dealer to destroy all submitted consent forms for transfer of a firearm determined not to be lost or stolen within two weeks, the Governor’s amendment would mandate that those consent forms be kept by the dealer for at least ninety days, with no requirement to ever destroy them.
Governor McAuliffe’s action to SB 377 has deep anti-gun implications, and it is important that you call AND e-mail your state Senator and respectfully urge him or her to vote to REJECT the Governor’s amendment. Contact information for your state Senator can be found here.
