Fairfax, VA -(AmmoLand.com)- Last Friday, USA Today reported that Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn is blaming what he calls Wisconsin’s “absurdly weak” gun control laws for an increase in murders in Milwaukee during the first half of 2015.
The newspaper noted, “Milwaukee has had 84 murders this year, more than double the 41 it tallied at the same point last year.”
However, it also noted that Baltimore and Chicago, which have restrictive gun control laws, and New Orleans and St. Louis, which have less restrictive laws, have also experienced increases in murder. And Los Angeles and San Diego, which have California’s restrictive laws, and Phoenix and Indianapolis, which have less restrictive laws, have experienced decreases in murder.
Although Flynn should be aware of such facts, he’s just one of those guys that doesn’t know when to stop letting his bias against guns get the better of him.
In 2013, during Sen. Dianne Feinstein‘s (D-Calif.) Senate hearings on her legislation to ban all semi-automatic shotguns and all detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifles as “assault weapons,” Flynn disgraced himself and undermined Feinstein’s effort during a heated exchange with Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.).
Soon thereafter, on MSNBC, Flynn complained about the ownership of “high quality, high-capacity semi-automatic handguns” and said that it was “fundamental” that “the rights of communities … are every bit as important as the rights of individuals.” Sounds like Flynn would be more at ease having dinner with Vladimir Lenin than Thomas Jefferson.
Last year, in a vote held by Milwaukee’s police union, 99 percent of officers who cast ballots not surprisingly said they had “no confidence” in Flynn. We aren’t surprised.

First the Chief was fired because he has not learned the rules of his position. He is the Chief law enforcement officer for a major metro area and he has not accepted responsibility for crime in his area. He is happy to accept the credit hen thing are going well so he must do the same when things go bad. There is no one reason why crime (homicides) have increased in the city in question. All those in the chain of command had some input with why things are the way they are. In order to fix it the issues… Read more »
Weak gun laws? Try weak prosecutors and weak judges. You don’t have to look any further to see the catastrophic failures of those who are suppose to finish the legal process strong. Pretty damn pathetic if you think about it!
This guy is a freaking IDIOT. He wants to blame every one else except himself. I was a police officer for 30 years and I believe I can tell you the problem. There were more cops hanging inside the police department than there were police officers out on patrol. That is why crime is up.
I live near Milwaukee, and I could tell ya, if everyone walking down the street had a gun, it would be a safer place! The liberal idiots like NOBAMA would say stupid S#$% like, “won’t this turn what would usually be a drunken fistfight at a bar into a fatal shooting” or “wouldn’t stricter gun laws have prevented 26 innocent elementary students and staff from being mercilessly slaughtered at the hands of a gun wielding psycho in Newtown.” Well my question is what about them black and mexican thugs that wave their guns around in the air with no respect… Read more »
