NH’s Democrat Gov Hassan Vetoes Constitutional Carry, Quotes Racist In Her Excuse

Concord, NH –-(Ammoland.com)- Gov Hassan justifies her veto of SB 116, Constitutional Carry bill, by quoting New Hampshire’s Racist and Homophobic former Governor Thomson.

Governor Maggie Hassan has vetoed SB 116, repudiating the 1974 amendment to the NH Constitution guaranteeing that “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by this state on account of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.”

Her veto message quotes former Governor Mel Thomson who after visiting South Africa in 1978, praised the white-minority government and defended its apartheid policy. Thomson also openly threatened to veto all funding for the University of New Hampshire after the Gay Students Organization held a dance and performed a play on campus.

SB 116 would have made optional NH’s license requirement to discreetly carry a firearm loaded outside of one’s home The law would have replaced the wholly subjective discretion given to local law enforcement to decide whether any NH citizen is a “suitable” person – allowing for the determination to be based on their ethnicity, race, gender, union or political affiliation – with one based on federal firearm statutes.

Governor Hassan compounds the existing statutory discrimination stating “Our permitting system gives an important oversight role to local law enforcement, while allowing for appeals through appropriate channels”, which means only those with financial means will have the ability to challenge any denial of the constitutional right.

New Hampshire’s gun law has its roots in racism and Ku Klux Klan.

ProGunNew Hampshire calls on the legislature to end more than 100 years of discrimination in New Hampshire and override Governor Hassan’s veto. New Hampshire is better than this!

Tex, leave a light on for me!!! I’ll be on my way soon! I can’t stand this state I’m in. There is no reason I can think of not to have a national carry license. I’m sure the government could use it as a money maker and everyone would be happy. I also agree with whoever wrote they keep passing laws for law abiding citizens, but it’s not us that are using the firearm in an illegal manor. Our forefathers would be so disappointed if they were alive to see this bullshit going on!

Oklahoma is still a free state, where your second amendment rights are still recognized. CC Licenses are available and open carry is an option available to holders. I’ve gone everywhere, shopping, grocery, Wal Mart, etc and no one has even raised an eyebrow, much less scream “OMG he has a gun!” or wrestle me down to the ground. License holders are permitted some bonus perks while in their cars. Lastly, unlicensed carry is a misdemeanor ($50 fine) and the state preempts cities so that “improper transportation” of your gun (ie no license) is a $70 traffic ticket. The only downside… Read more »

Sorry but those are Not Freedoms – Those are Privileges Granted to you By a Corporation (STATE). A Permission Slip.

True Freedom would require you to ask No One before you exercise your right.

Unbelievable that so few know the difference between a Right and a Privilege – I guess we have the great Education system to thank..

No Child Left Behind – LMAO

Regardless of whatever legislation that is, or is not passed in N.H., you can be assured that it will have no effect whatsoever on the availability and/or use of firearms by criminals. Laws only affect “law-abiding” citizens and are of zero concern to criminals. Which says quite a bit about the potential effectiveness of this or any other archaic gun laws. Keep making it harder for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves from the criminal element. But just don’t plan on having a long political career, because law-abiding citizens have had enough of this type of backwards nonsense.

And I am sure that you will be voting for Hillary.

Get ready for the next strategy by the gun control cretins. Here in Seattle one of the communists on the council proposed an ordinance to tax every firearm sale $25 and place a % tax on the sale of ammo. Obviously – and the idiot admits – it will be kicked by the courts because WA statutes precluded any city/county from enacting more stringent law than the state laws – yet still they keep trying and it results in expensive legal bills and tying u[p the courts with lawsuits merely because these left-wing cretins with coprilite for brains continue to… Read more »

Hey, Meldrim Thomson wanted the government to give him tactical nukes for his national guard troops to protect NH from the progressive, communist hoards across the border to the south. Sounds like my kind of governor.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Thank you, Governor Hassan, for your veto of Senate Bill 116 which would repeal our state license requirement for carrying a concealed pistol or revolver. As you stated in your veto message on July 6, “New Hampshire’s current law has worked well for nearly a century.” Moreover, most law enforcement and public safety officials oppose removing the protection that the licensing process offers to help ensure that potentially dangerous individuals are not allowed to carry hidden weapons. Why allow SB 116 to remove a common-sense law, especially since New Hampshire has a weak… Read more »

Since when does a personal opinion justify denying some one else’s rights under the constitution? They need to fire this Person and get some one with common sense to serve. She must have graduated from Moron University.

Just another proponent of “Hope and Change” who ignores the constituency.

I’m In! As soon as Texas gets rid of it’s archaic gun laws, I’m planning to move from the pinko commie state of Vermont to Texas. The ONLY thing VT still has going for it is NO state restrictions (just the stupid fed laws). If I want to carry my 6 gun on my hip while hunting, fishing, camping or going out for pizza, I can. If I want to carry concealed, I can. Loaded in my glove box, under my seat, in my door pouch, etc.? Legal. Switchblade for ease of opening? No problem. No permits, no permission from… Read more »

I am planning to buy a place in New Hampshire, my birth state, because of the taxes and ridiculous gun laws in the state of Connecticut. This move will now have to be looked at more closely. By moving to Coos County I was hoping to have MORE freedom and not LESS!

In addition to being as “fuggly” as Shrillary, is she also Muslim, with a name like Hassan?

One thing that a lot of people over look, particularly those states with females for governors, is you have to time a lot of these bills, depending on their “days” in the cycle!

That btch is to old for a period. But have you noticed that most female Liberals are ugly as seven kinds of homemade sin, where female Conservatives are good looking to complete knock-outs?

I look at that photo of their guv’nah and all I see is another Hillary staring at me with that cold dispassionate “G’on, make my day!” look on her face!

I will never understand why people vote for gutter trash like this bitch ! The gun-grabbing parasites new stategey now since everything else they tried has failed miserably,is label all law-abidding firearms owners racists, terrorists, successionists, etc. Talk about taking desperation to the extreme ! People that live in these socialist states need to come down to Texas ! Freedom rings in the Lone Star State ! (AZ is awesome too) ! ‘Texas like a whole other country’ ! Moving across country is a pain in the ass but do what you have to do protect yourself/family and defend and live by your… Read more »

@Brig,Texas Gov.Abbott just signed Open Carry into law on 6-13-15 and it goes into effect on 1-1-16. You have to have a TX CHL,or CCW from another state that TX recognizes, but you will have the option of open or concealed carry. Its not Constitutional Carry but it will work for me. I think a lot of states don’t care much for Constitutional Carry because of the revenue CCW/CHL brings into the states. There needs to be national reciprocity just like a damn driver license.
