The Major takes a closer look at Sam Cherry’s custom engraving on a series of Ruger Vaqueros for Tyler Gun Works.
U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- Mr. Tyler had already produced 200 Ruger Bearcats with color case finishing and some of them were engraved. This was such a success that his second project was 200 Ruger Vaquero revolvers with a 357mag/38spl cylinder and a second cylinder in 9mm. Mr. Tyler was so impressed with Sam Cherry’s work that a deal was agreed upon for Sam to provide the engraving work for the Tyler Vaquero project.
With the Tyler Ruger Bearcat project, Mr. Tyler produced a limited number of the Bearcats with custom engraving. It would appear there were some disappointed Ruger collectors who could not get one of the very few engraved Bearcats. So with the Tyler Ruger Vaquero project, when you order your Vaquero from Tyler Gun Works you can request it engraved. There will be no limit on how many of the 200 Tyler Vaqueros will be engraved.
Now, you need to understand that Sam Cherry will be engraving the Tyler Vaqueros with approximately twenty hours of skilled effort put into each handgun. The point being, if you want a Samantha Cherry custom engraved Tyler Vaquero you need to order it now because the list is rapidly filling up.
Sam Cherry is going to be very busy this summer and fall producing Tyler Vaqueros but she also will continue to take on some engraving commissions. I would suggest that her abilities and skills are going to become well known in the Ruger collector world.
The goal of Tyler Gun Works is to produce limited runs of custom engraved and color case finished firearms. The Tyler Vaquero project is Mr. Tyler’s second revolver project and there is already a third project in the works. Mr. Tyler only produces limited numbers of custom firearms. Mass marketing is not what he is after.
To help amplify the overall look of the engraving and custom color case finish, Mr. Tyler has engaged Mike Palmertree of Lone Star Stag Grips to produce handmade custom stag grips for the Tyler Vaquero project. The Lone Star Stag Grips are made by hand with six hours of skilled labor used to produce a finished set of grips. Mr. Palmertree’s Lone Star Stag Grips are produced from Red Stag deer antlers that he acquires in Texas. No two sets of grips are the same, adding to the one-of-a-kind look of each of the Tyler Vaqueros.
Mr. Palmertree makes stag grips for a number of handgun frames. If you are a 1911 handgun owner I suggest you go to the Lone Star Stag Grips facebook page. Take a look at the exceptional grips Mr. Palmertree is producing in his spare time when not working on the Tyler Vaquero project.
You can order a Tyler Vaquero with just a color case finish. The engraving is an additional request for custom work and the Lone Star Stag Grips are also a requested custom additional feature of the Tyler Vaquero.
Quality is the word that keeps coming to mind as I write about Samantha Cherry’s engraving skills and the entire Tyler Ruger Vaquero custom handgun project. Samantha Cherry has a lot of long nights and hard artistic work ahead of her. I would suggest in future years collectors will be sitting around a table telling stories of what they have in their gun safes.
