Dem Gillum Threatens Florida Gun Owners as GOP Increasingly Betrays Them

This is the enemy Florida gun owners now face as many “A-rated” Republicans they supported betray them and flee. (Andrew Gillum/Facebook header screenshot)

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “When we win, we are going to ban assault weapons in Florida,” Tallahassee Mayor and Democrat nominee for Governor of Florida Andrew Gillum threatened on Twitter. It’s an indication of how far the place once derided by the citizen disarmament lobby as “The Gunshine State” has fallen in terms of firearms freedoms.

It also serves as yet another illustration that no matter how much Republicans surrender to the gun-grabbers, it will never be enough. As things stand now, Florida gun owners will have to decide if they still have enough fire in their bellies to turn up  at the polls after their utter betrayal by “A+ rated” Rick Scott. That’s compounded by the revelation that  incoming Florida Senate President Bill Galvano is now effectively on Bloomberg’s payroll. Then there’s the long list of Florida GOP turncoats and outright liars, who were happy to be represented as “staunch defenders of the Second Amendment” in order to gain power, only to then prove themselves to be the basest of cowards, turning tail and abandoning those who believed in and fought for them.

You wouldn’t tolerate a cheating spouse, would you? Why would you take it from a politician? Maybe we should ask Republican “#gunsense champion” Anitere Flores, who seems to have experience with both kinds of betrayals.

What all this has done is made things incredibly more difficult for the Republican Gillum now holds a slim lead over in a recent poll, Ron DeSantis.  True, one poll does not an election call (or even most polls, as 2016 taught us), but it’s indicative of how closely divided the electorate has become, and how the last thing either party can afford to do is betray its base.

While I would argue with him over his (obviously NRA-influenced) support for expanded prior restraint “background checks” and due process-endangering mental health blanket dragnets, DeSantis’ stated position on guns is a hell of a lot better than his turncoat GOP peers. And it’s the polar opposite of Democrat Gillums’, who tweeted something else recently that illustrates a major difference between those who believe the government exists to serve the people and those who insist we exist to serve it.

“Keep saying it loud with me…I believe in a state where healthcare is a right and not a privilege,” Gillum declared. “#bringithome.”

To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends upon what the meaning of the word “right” is. Gillum clearly embraces the version where they’re what the government “gives” you from property coerced from someone else, and as we all know, what government giveth, it has the power to take away.

For a “health care right” to work, somebody else needs to provide it and pay for it. That means they can be compelled to and punished if they refuse.

There’s a word for that.

Your and my rights aren’t dependent upon putting demands on others (except to demand they leave them the hell alone). They didn’t create our rights and they didn’t bestow them to us, and that holds true whether you believe they are “endowed by our Creator” or simply inherent to the condition of being human.

It figures that collectivist Gillum, supported by the Democratic Socialists of America (whose songs promise “And when the revolution comes, We'll kill you all with knives and guns”), is determined to strip from us the means to resist those presuming the power to define and bestow our rights or redefine and withhold them.

Florida gun owners: You have a choice to make.

We all do.

    1. Question is why are socialist using guns to kill people. (liberals)
They want to take the guns from everybody, when it’s their own people that are doing the shooting!

    2. blah blah blah blah blah. It’s all bull shit. It means nothing anymore. Let the anti-gun lobby freak shit heads run their mouth. Just ignore them. They grow louder and bigger when they get opposition. Stop funding the gun lobby. Keep the money in your pocket. Buy more ammo if you want to spend money.

      1. @JEL, I hate to disagree, but I must. We gun owners need political muscle at every level more than ever. We have so many arrayed against us. Elitists, Democrat National Socialists, our own government, useful idiots, Big Business, even the U.N. seek to deprive us of our American Civil Rights. It is more important to have the Right to firearms than have firearms.

    3. All of the totally legal and law abiding firearm owning Florida residents are being betrayed and insultedby the members of their state government including current Govenor Rick Scott. Time to sell our Florida home and move to a US Costitutional respecting state. Florida is turning into another despicable state like California.

    4. Scott betrayed us, and now DeSantis is in his way to follow Scott’s gun control. It’s ashamed for republicans not to defend our Constitutional rights like 2nd amendment. I will rather prefer not to vote for anybody and let happen what’s going to happened. Who is worse? The demonrats at least they are clear about gun control but DeSantis is an aberration to the republicans. Moving from Florida? Any other option?

    5. I’ve already been thinking of leaving FL where I have lived for nearly 20 years (formerly and originally from TN). DeSantis was my rep until a recent redistricting changed it and now I’m stuck with that useless dessicated turd of an ex-sheriff from Jax. I plan to vote for DeSantis but if that pinko commie f*ck from the left coast of FL gets in, I’m gone before the swearing (lying) in ceremony. Don’t know where I’ll go, but it’ll be very red with zero blue specs in it or anywhere near it. I’m sick of these blue morons, their stealing, their lies, unending and unpunished attacks and criminality.

My rifles have never assaulted anyone other than the time I got my finger smashed by the bolt when I was wiping it down a bit between sessions at the range and accidentally hit the release. Nobody died. Didn’t even bleed, just hurt like hell for a few hours. Turn me and a few hundred thousand of my fellow citizens into felons by statutory decree and just maybe you’ll see what some real felonies look like, Gillum. Where we go One, we go All.

    6. i have grown weary of these phrase spouting ignoramuses. that they appeal to many reveals just how many ignoramuses there are among us. THAT – too many ignoramuses – is the problem of this nation defined.

    7. If this slime gets elected Florida will end up like California. I hope people like turds in the street and bums sleeping everywhere and I hope they like it when there is a ban on every kind of gun out there and they are left with no means of protecting themselves. I hope they love a tax on everything and programs for immigrant and minorities and tax payers left out only to find everything. People in Florida would be moronic to elect a slimy twinkle toed communist like Gillum.

      1. Amen ,,,not to mention all the crime is going to swarm Because of the marijuana not to mention the regulation of everything ,, like ice to get rid of the scum in $1 billion tax bill from Medicaid for everybody free /somebody’s going to pay for that ,,,people that work for a living that’s who/out of my cold dead hands

    8. Will the LEOs have to turn their ‘assault weapons’ in along with the rest of the population or is it another one of those ‘for thee, not for me’ situations.`

    9. I was planning on moving to Florida from Tennessee. If this gun grabbing arse wipe gets elected two thing will happen. First he will ban all privately owned firearms nthen he will institute a state income tax. Florida is one of a very few states that does not currently have one. Therefore if Gollum uh er Gillim wins I will not be moving to Florida. Additionally, since I am a legally concealed carry weapon user, I doubt I will even bother to visit Florida either. I refuse to be helpless in the face of criminals and government. Sorry, I repeat myself…

    10. These anti gun people want to stop honest people from owning firearms because they kill, however these same anti people think it’s okay to have legal abortions.

      1. Infowars was taken off the air for a reason to push their socialist communist agenda without conservative constitutionalists being able to communicate /I am a Floridian, will stand against a socialist communist front -one way the other- you want my weapons ?come and take them/I will defend the republic against all enemies foreign and domestic and you can take that to your little George Soros bank

      1. Codrea has made an insightful observation when he writes, “… DeSantis’ stated position on guns is a hell of a lot better than his turncoat GOP peers.” That observation gives Florida patriots a rare opportunity to teach the Repub Party hacks of Florida a big lesson.
Good job Codrea. If you were in my Bn, I would have you promoted and immediately assigned to the S2 shop.

      2. Arrr. Hang em from the yard arm, then make em walk the plank after they’re keel hauled and put before a firing squad. Recall the lot of them, too. Damn this pisses me off!!

Thanks David for your outstanding article today and yesterday!

    11. That Florida socialist is also under FBI investigation for corruption. Funny how FBI investigations don’t matter to dems when it is one of their own being investigated.

He is a gun banning socialist. His GOP opponent is drastically better, just like trump vs clinton. Let’s hope the pro gun base can come out in full force like they did in 2016. Maybe some trump rallies can help bring them out.

    12. anti-gun American idiot’s are Brainwashed by josh Sugarmann. he’s more responable for lying & deceiving the public back in the late 80’s. I wish josh surgermann was put in court for lying, deceiving & brain washing the American public.

Assault weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons –anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun– can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.

you know what josh surgerman I call BS!
