Hard-Hitting Radio Ad Rips Washington State Gun Control Initiative 1639

BELLEVUE, WA – -(AmmoLand.com)- A hard-edged radio advertisement blasting Initiative 1639—the 30-page gun control measure now facing Washington State voters—has hit the airwaves, telling listeners that in some Seattle neighborhoods, “if you call 911…it takes 18 minutes for police to arrive.”

The advertisement is sponsored by Washingtonians and the National Rifle Association for Freedom, a political action committee to which the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms has significantly contributed. It began airing as ballots began arriving in mailboxes throughout Puget Sound, to remind voters what is at stake. Listen to the advertisement here.

“I-1639,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “is opposed by four major statewide law enforcement organizations representing a majority of rank-and-file police officers and sheriff’s deputies: The Washington State Patrol Troopers Association, Washington State Sheriffs Association, Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs and Washington State Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Association. In addition, the Cowlitz County Deputies and Sergeants Guild is also on record against the measure.”

“When boots-on-the-ground lawmen and women oppose a measure that is being promoted as a crime-prevention tool, it is safe to conclude that there is something really wrong with it,” he added, “and I think this radio ad raises some of those issues.”

The radio message challenges voters to set their clocks for 18 minutes and then close their eyes and “imagine you’re waiting for police, and then vote for your safety.”

“We know that police and sheriffs’ departments do as good a job as they possibly can,” Gottlieb noted, “and we thank the men and women who patrol our streets and county roads. The concern is not with law enforcement, but with the initiative mandate of so-called ‘secure storage’ that renders self-defense firearms useless.”

I-1639 is the only gun control issue on the ballot anywhere in the United States this year.

“You can support the effort to keep this advertisement on the air by visiting the ‘Vote No’ website,” Gottlieb noted.

    1. Nowhere in this ad (or in any ad anywhere that I’ve seen or heard) points out the glaring insult to the rule of law contained therein; the “secure storage” requirement has already been ruled unconstitutional.

      “Held:

“3) …the requirement that any lawful firearm in the home be disassembled or bound by a trigger lock makes it impossible for citizens to use arms for the core lawful purpose of self-defense and is hence unconstitutional.” – D.C. v. Heller (2008)

Plain, unambiguous language. Precedent. THE LAW OF THE LAND.

Why is no one bringing this up? It is the single-most powerful repudiation of this initiative.

      1. All of these gun control laws are void and mute from inception. They are born from the glint in the eye of TRAITORS. Even with the news of an immense invasion in the works, these TRAITORS, flush with the puppet masters cash, are writing laws that would disarm Americans and make them easy prey for all sorts of rapists, robbers, and economic migrants who don’t want to be poor anymore. Somehow, these Bolshevik dirtbags have taken control of too large a part of everything that used to be America. And they hate what America was, especially the US Constitution, because it gets in the way of their total control. Sorry to say, for them, Article Six of that Constitution, the Supremacy clause, makes it clear that all laws must abide by the Constitution, because it is the Supreme Law of the Land. No one has a duty or obligation to OBEY or ENFORCE any laws that do not conform. Any judge on the bench who enforces an unconstitutional law is, in reality, a TRAITOR ! And that goes for any LEO who would arrest or confiscate pursuant to an illegal order. They are supposed to know the law, and ignorance is no excuse, neither is “I was just following my orders”. So, in closing, I have a message for Bloomberg, Feinstein, Whiningberg, Soros, and all the rest of your Satanic Gun Grabbing Cult…Go Back To Hell !!!

The above link is excellent — but long — summary of what this initiative will do – IT IS LONG BECAUSE THIS INITIATIVE IS A MASSIVE CHAGE TO MANY, MANY LAWS IN WASHINGTON STATE …

The Seattle Times (a Liberal News Paper) tells the truth about how massive this gun control initiative is:

    3. James Russell Bailey is exactly correct.

Ammoland, and virtually every moderate and right wing publication, has been silent on this massive initiative.

How bad has it been — even the left wing Seattle Times has done a better job than Ammoland of getting the truth out …

Washington voters will have a chance to make the state one of the most restrictive in the country for gun purchases and ownership; proponents say I-1639 will save lives, opponents say it’s onerous and likely unconstitutional.

Predicting how the proposed laws contained in Initiative 1639 will save lives or trample on the rights of gun owners is up to political interpretation.

What isn’t up for discussion is that the 30-page initiative, on the Nov. 6 ballot, will vault Washington into the vanguard of state gun-restriction laws with Massachusetts, Hawaii and California.

Washington state isn’t barren of gun regulations. The state already has roughly 43 gun-related laws or regulations on the books, according to researchers at the Boston University School of Public Health. Alaska, by comparison, has just two state gun laws in addition to the requirements of the federal government that apply everywhere.

Gun-control proponents want Washington to do more.

      1. Mr. Hoover, you evidently haven’t been reading my reports at Liberty Park Press or Conservative Firing Line, or my Op-Ed that appeared 10/25 in CROSSCUT. I’ve been writing about this initiative for months, and especially for the last several weeks.

    4. I have been a paid professional writer, and quite frankly you would think that whoever wrote this absolutely lackluster article, would have thought to actually describe, even generally, the wording of the initiative.

More and more articles on Ammoland are taking the same tack: leaving short, but Vital Information out of articles!

Ammoland is better than this, please step up to the plate and return to a higher level of Excellence!
