Parkland High School Survivor Receives David & Goliath Award

“We must go on the offense,” he says.

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Kyle Kashuv, a student thrust into the national spotlight after the tragic mass murders at the Parkland, Fla., high school he attends, is JPFO’s 2018 David and Goliath Award winner, in recognition of his bold and courageous defense of liberty.

Mr. Kashuv goes even further, seeing through and calling out controversial classmates at his school who, following the massacre, have been receiving substantial funding from dark-money donors and virtue-signaling celebrities, hyped up all the more by saturation media coverage promoting the all-too familiar, misguided “gun-control” agenda.

In accepting the award, Mr. Kashuv emphasized his activism is for preserving the right of Americans to keep and bear arms, not about getting awards or being on a trendy teeny bopper tour. Other students from his school have accepted financing and accolades to join so-called “March For Our Lives” (aka “March For Your Guns”) and “Never Again” tours, publicity campaigns, and merchandise marketing. JPFO Advisor Dov Marhoffer, a Nazi Holocaust survivor, has rebuked that movement in the strongest terms for those who dare attempt co-opting the uniquely Jewish battle cry to arms as some cheap political stunt.

At the podium, young Kashuv asked a mature and responsible question, “Why are sporting events, banks, courtrooms, government buildings, and politicians all protected by people with guns? Do our youth not deserve equal protection?”

He said, “It is unjust that politicians, who are protected by guns, reach for gun control, which makes our classrooms more vulnerable. The solution to school safety is not the erosion of the Second Amendment,” adding, “the hardening of schools, and armed guards [are important parts of] the best solution.”

With respect to protecting Americans’ right to arms, Kashuv stated, “Defense isn’t enough. It’s time we go on offense.” His speech was met with a standing ovation from the nearly 800 attendees. More than 115,000 people watched the conference online.

The award, created by JPFO in 2012, was presented at the 33rd Annual Gun Rights Policy Conference in Chicago, to another standing ovation by the crowd. Past recipients include the investigative reporters who broke the Fast and Furious scandal (David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh), the Washington Times columnist who documented Washington, D.C.’s reluctance to obey its own gun laws (Emily Miller), and the author and attorney who linked Nazi gun confiscations directly to the Holocaust (Stephen P. Halbrook, Ph.D.).

Kashuv has been honored for his work with an Oval Office meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump demonstrating the courage, tenacity and resolve to take on the opponents of freedom and who support basic human rights, including the right to arms and self-preservation.

The statue of David represents the biblical character who, with his weapon of choice, a sling clearly visible, stood up against and defeated a giant deemed unstoppable. It is these selfless acts and their compounded results JPFO admires and encourages.
