New Mexico Take Action

Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- This past week the New Mexico Senate concurred on legislation to criminalize almost all private sales of firearms, Senate Bill 8. Senate Bill 8 now heads to the desk of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham for her signature. Please contact Governor Lujan Grisham and strongly urge her to VETO Senate Bill 8.

Take Action Button

Senate Bill 8, so-called “universal” background check legislation sponsored by Senators Richard Martinez (D) and Peter Wirth (D), would ban almost all private firearms sales between law-abiding individuals.

Gun owners would be forced to pay fees and obtain government approval before selling firearms to friends, neighbors, co-workers, fellow hunters, competitive shooters or gun club members. This proposal would have no impact on crime and is unenforceable without gun registration. As amended, Senate Bill 8 now requires that all federal firearm licensees perform these background checks. 30 out of 33 New Mexico Sheriffs oppose this legislation.

Again, please contact Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and strongly urge her to VETO Senate Bill 8 when it gets to her desk.

I live in NM, and based on everyone that I’ve talked to, no one will comply with this so-called law. The Republicans in the House and Senate have started a petition to overturn this law. We need approximately 70,000 signatures, then the residents get to vote on it. No doubt it’ll be overturned s being unconstitutional.

criminals welcome in NM as long as they vote dhimmi-rat. self defense not welcome, where’s the surprise when a commie-mommie is elected?

1) I have written not only my representatives in the state legislature, but, county commissioners, and NM sheriffs. 2) The governor has already signed the bill into law. Its all over ‘cept the crying 3) As always the NRA is “a day late and a dollar short” of getting the news out in a timely manner so we the people can be informed in enough time to do something about it! 4) It might be well to note that our (NM) Constitution states in Article II, Section 6. “No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and… Read more »

How dare these bastardos say we cannot for hundreds of years NOT pass on our weapons to our kids and grandkids??? That is MY legacy, and in NO WAY will these make anybody’s world safer! NM polys are inciting riot and are accused of blatant NEW WORLD ORDER HARASSMENT! Hope they all croak!
STOP ALL THESE GUN HARASSING LAWS YOU IMPOSE!!!

I was considering applying for a permit hunt in NM this year. But I think I will pass now. I use to go every year.

The counties and sheriffs in New Mexico have already taken a stand and refused to obey these oppressive anti-Constitutonal laws. ALL elected Democrats in New Mexico buy their offices (I lived there over 20 years) and the elections are always rigged. The current governor is a bought and paid for liberal Democrat female with an Hispanic hyphenated name, which means she was a shoo-in for the election once she paid the cash regardless of the “vote”. It’s coming down to the “nut cutting” in New Mexico and there are more than enough conservative folks who don’t live in Albuquerque, Santa… Read more »

To all Americans, every time you vote for a democrat you are voting against the second amendment and to union members when your union spends your due’s money backing democrats they are doing harm to you and the second amendment, time for it to stop.

The Dems are creating an “American Aristocracy”.

Talked to a friend of me over the weekend and he has lived out there for several years and said that the virus from Calif has been moving in for quite a while, the idiots are moving in but won’t give up their idiot ideas. This final step with their idiot politicians is now going to haunt them, non-sense on buying ammo, 2 boxes with a back ground check each purchase, gun transfers, all, it all boils down that they say they can’t take the guns so they will limit the ammo, also if you show up with to many… Read more »

The governor already signed off on this bill yesterday, March 8th.
For those who follow politics, you need to check in ever so often and see what she and the politics of The City Different is up to.

New Mexico residents need to become familiar with Armed Civil Disobedience sooner than later.

I hate to sound like a one-note banjo….plink, plink, plink!

I think the action link is broken Ammoland.. I wrote the Governor directly: “Hello Governor Grisham, I know that I’m from out of State, but I hope as a US Citizen, you’ll take to heart my plea to stop the Second Amendment assaults, when they come to your desk. I ask that you please veto Senate Bill 8, So-called “universal” background check legislation sponsored by Senators Richard Martinez (D) and Peter Wirth (D).. There is little to no evidence, that over reaching gun laws prevent the criminal activities they are being promoted to do. They are far more intrusive and… Read more »

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham as I type has her pen out ready to sign off on this bill. It is much too late. I support private gun sales in this nation. Should of, Could of. Gun activist failed to be more involved in the northern tiers of this state. ABQ and Santa Fe decide on what goes on here.

The politicians that pass these laws have no skin in the game but they will if they do not stop whistling past the graveyard of history. They know not what they do and are ignorant or are ignoring history and could be putting their own safety at risk. They fail to remember or do not believe what happened at Lexington Green and Concord can happen again.

RRangel

They’re not ignorant. They are privileged by way of position and government power. Where they don’t have to face the ramification of their disarmament.

to be expected from useless d-sucker government

it's just Boris

I’ve contacted the governor. I’ve contacted my reps. I have received zero replies. Zero. Nada. Zip. My county rep doesn’t even have an answering machine so she can’t be left messages.

The Roundhouse is a majority-owned subsidiary of Bloomberg Inc., or at least that’s what I’m forced to conclude.

Write your local newspaper’s editorial section and say this. Get people’s attention. What politicians don’t want is The People’s attention to bad press about them. The worst thing you can do is give up: to give up is to concede that they own you.
