Maryland: Governor Hogan Vetoes Legislation to Repeal Handgun Permit Review Board

Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- Last Week, Republican Governor Larry Hogan vetoed House Bill 1343 /Senate Bill 1000, legislation to repeal the Handgun Permit Review Board.

House Bill 1343 /Senate Bill 1000 sought to remove citizen oversight regarding the appeals process for Maryland wear and carry permits.

Current law allows individuals who are denied a wear and carry permit to file an appeal to the Handgun Permit Review Board, a group of five members of the public appointed by the Governor.

HB 1343 /SB 1000 would dissolve this board, thus removing all public oversight, and make all appeals be filed through an administrative office.

Thank you to NRA members who continued to contact their legislators in opposition to this legislation. Also, thank you to those legislators who voted in opposition to SB 1000, and to Governor Hogan for vetoing the bill and preventing the repeal of this important review process.

I find it very ironic that , almost All the gun manufacturers have relocated to the Southern States.
That is in direct contrast to the last Civil War, when the South, lacking industry, had to buy its weapons from England or rely on their soldiers bringing their own rifles from home with them.
Well now , seems as though the worm has turned, doesn’t it ? How many dedicated soldiers would the Socialist Democracy of New England field ?

I live right across the river from Maryland and I now view it as a foreign country along with NewJersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I will not travel there, buy there or conduct any business whatsoever in the New England Socialist Democratic Peoples Republic.
You get the kind of government you deserve..

It’s no matter. As soon as the State House reconvenes they will override the veto and it will become law.

They can’t! That’s why he waited. They can try and push a new bill again next session to change the current law but they cannot veto it.

Due process and right to petition. Only low social credit score individuals need those. Right Comrade?

“Low social credit score individuals”, someones paying attention to what’s going on. Soon no one will be able to buy or sell without the proper score (Revelation 13:16-18).

Maryland, isn’t that an island off the coast of North Korea? And run by power crazed, mentally unstable politicians who want to rob its citizens of all their rights and enslave them! “You must obey us, we are your masters and will make all choices and decisions for you!”

Gov. Hogan (R) of MD has finally done something notable for the 2A. That something which is an absurdity in itself CCW in MD. (I live here and he is not in anyway a conservative nor republican. He’s an undercover commie-demonrat.) If you’re still here after 2020 you’ll feel like what O’ Malley did to MD was just an innocent flirtation. Praxis And Bill got it right; Praxis – “Fuck Hogan <<<<SEE THAT<<<< and MD especially! What puff piece BS! <<<<SEE THIS<<<<. My feeling after living in NJ for 18 years, (not anymore), is that MD.,NJ.and NY. Are state controlled left wing communist people’s republics.
State gov. Controlled by politicians not the people, so they can get rich and do nothing for the people.

The very reason the South went to war, states rights, the people ruled the government, It might have been also about slavery, but it was the Northern government forcing taxes on the South.

Mafia RICO Organizations posing as legitimate government, they bleed the people dry with high property taxes, and pass incremental laws to deprive the citizens of their Constitutional Rights. And that is just to start. Our founders would be totally appalled and puking on the ground. Not only because of the TREASONOUS criminals in power, but because of the apathy of the constituents who allow it to continue.

Fuck Hogan and MD especially! What puff piece BS! When are people who choose to exercise their right to self defense going to realize the GOP holds no friends of theirs or love for them? Make MD a constitutional carry state then get back to me. Yawn. Having lived in lovely MD, I can assure you the HPRB is just window dressing. To hell with MD!

I was in one of Marylands “gunstores” one day listening to the guy behind the counter list the expenditures to a husband and wife who were business owners inquiring about a carry permit and just walked away after about the 10th charge required to buy the right to protect their livelihood. I had just moved here from WV (believe me, I had to come to md or I wouldn’t have) and was in shock, having just left a FREE state. I think they were up to a few thousand when I walked away. What a sham(e).
