Virginia: Tell your Sheriff to Take a Stand

Culpepper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins
Culpepper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins

U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Faced with the introduction of legislation in the 2020 General Assembly requiring confiscation of commonly owned firearms, many Virginians who strongly support the Second Amendment are taking a stand.

In the last few weeks citizens from over 75 Virginia counties, cities and towns have convinced their local governing bodies to pass resolutions in support of protecting their Second Amendment rights by proclaiming their local jurisdiction a “Sanctuary” which would not enforce federal or state gun laws that are unconstitutional.

Many more Resolutions are now pending in other counties around Virginia.

Equally important, we must also urge our local Sheriffs to decline to enforce unconstitutional gun laws! In some jurisdictions, the Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer. In others, the Sheriff works with the courts while uniformed police do the day to day law enforcement.

Already, at least a few sheriffs are taking a strong stand against Governor “Blackface” Northam’s plans for gun control:

  • “I believe we need to send a message to Richmond that our citizens will take a stance. My deputies and I take an oath to uphold the Constitution and that’s what we will do,”– Rappahannock County Sheriff Connie Compton told Townhall.
  • “I can assure you, my fellow Patrick Countians, that I will unequivocally be loyal to my oath of office and support the 2nd Amendment and the Constitution of this great land. Your right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” — Patrick County Sheriff Daniel Smith.
  • “If necessary, I plan to properly screen and deputize thousands of our law-abiding citizens to protect their constitutional right to own firearms.” — Culpepper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins.

Please take a few minutes to email your local Sheriff to urge him to not assist in the enforcement of unconstitutional gun laws. Or, if you know that your sheriff has taken a strong stand already, then please thank him.

And please forward this alert with your friends and neighbors across Virginia asking them to do the same.

P.S. Gun Owners of America has provided draft SASO language which can be editable and useful for introduction in your county. Please click here to learn more about our Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinance and to download a copy for yourself.

The sheriffs of England were appointed by the Crown to serve the Crown. The sheriffs in the US are suppose to be elected by the people to serve the people. We the people still do not serve any crown. Too many of our public servants do not want enforcers not hired to serve them. The authority of any freely elected peace official should always be superior to that of hired enforcers. It is the responsibility of citizens to protect their elected officers form hired enforcers by what means required.

I’m praying for the people in Virginia, this Northam guy like all dems looks unstable and shouldn’t hold office anywhere.

I tried clicking the HERE button to download a copy of the Sanctuary Ordinance form but it just brings me back to the original page. Any idea how to get a copy?

I REALLY HOPE this Second Amendment Sanctuary stuff works–but sheriffs are both cops and people (with families, etc.) and if it means the particular sheriff is going to be removed from office by the particular states governor (which all states can do using their state police) then what the hell is going to happen with the remaining deputies and citizens who are for real committed and not macho talking yo-yos (it will be few). Because any who get involved with this and it goes side-wise will like our brave founders–give up everything, home, family, money, job, freedom and you name… Read more »

As long as Pres. Trump sits in the WH, I’m sure that the good people of VA who stand up for their rights will get some backup and protection. What worries me more is IF one of the Dem-communists gets elected then the entire country will be in the boat with VA residents. We either face up to our duty to preserve our constitution and freedom for our children, or we all become slaves to the Dem-communists.

DID THAT, some time ago.
Our Sheriff is a good man. Most all his Deputies carry 1911s.
He supports our Constitution 100% and adores the Second Amendment. When he speaks, he sounds like Patrick Henry.

Living here in Oklahoma, for 44 years, this sort of thing is like something out of bizarro land. We have been steadily going in the opposite direction for the last thirty years. And Trump received 65% of the vote here in 2016.

“Superman”? No, you are probably a weak, questionable female with metal in her face and a ring in her nose. Green hair to show all how you hate being human and insure to drive MEN away.
It is to laugh. Schumer would like you, though.

USA, all this politically correct bull is just taking away our first amendment rights but not the sickos like those two. Never in my life or worst nightmare did I imagine how backwards our country could and has become. There are a million words and no words to describe what’s happening to normal people.

@SiCC – I’d guess that’s the look they are going for. Has been my observation that totally crazy people tend to look the part. As with drunks, it’s those in the middle zone you’ve got to look out for.

USA, you find things most of us would prefer to remain in the trash heap. They remind me of the Joker character played by Heath Ledger in the Batman movie. Two prime examples of our need for more mental health funding.

USA….RoyD….Oldvet….Justista….i emailed them about SUperdupe and tried explaining that he is just here to start crap. This was the reply from Brian Johnson at Ammoland So there is a person who has a different opinion then yourself and therefore you would like Ammoland to silence their opinion? If they violate our comment policy that is an issue. https://www.ammoland.com/ammoland-comment-policy/#axzz6AN9wRMDr people with different opinions are encouraged here in America. I would think a second amendment supporter would have a more rational approach to people whose opinion was different than their own. — Brian Johnson On January 6, 2020, 3:20 PM EST [email protected]… Read more »
