Oregon: Have A Gun License, Go To Prison, 300,000 Oregonians Would Be Felons

Oregon: Have A Gun License, Go To Prison, 300,000 Oregonians Would Be Felons

Oregon – -(AmmoLand.com)- This week the Oregon Senate Judiciary Committee took 4 hours of testimony on SB 554, a bill designed to turn 300,000 law-abiding Oregonians into felons so that Ginny Burdick can leave the Senate happy.

From the bill:

“Authorizes city, county, metropolitan service district, port operating commercial airport, school district, college or university to adopt ordinance or policy limiting or precluding affirmative defense for possession of firearms in public buildings by concealed handgun licensees.”

We need not reiterate just how sick this concept is.

As expected, Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese did the bidding of his overlord, anti-gun billionaire Mike Bloomberg, and testified in favor of this bizarre and hate-filled legislation.

But, as was noted by one opponent of the bill, he inadvertently and ignorantly made a case against the bill when he pointed out the many places where police response times are dangerously long.

The anti-rights crowd trotted out the usual collection of nonsensical positions citing “statistics and studies” they never produced. It’s interesting to note that the same people who are determined to make parents felons for having the means to protect their kids at schools are determined to outlaw school resource officers.

A look at this year’s Democrat legislation makes it clear that 2021 is the year that Oregon Democrats have chosen to empower and enrich criminals while attacking the rights of the law-abiding.

The opponents of the bill vastly outnumbered those in support. And it will come as no surprise that most of them were not able to testify.

And that’s not including the untold number who cannot even try to participate because of the effects of fire and power outages. The Democrats continue to try to crush Oregonian’s rights with no concern that so many are locked out of the process.

That’s how we roll in Kate Brown’s Oregon. But to all of you who did manage to navigate the labyrinth and make your voices heard, we are deeply in your debt.

You did the job of great patriots.

The bill is now fast-tracked for a “work session” on Thursday, Feb 25th, 2021, at 8 am…

…even though hundreds of people who wanted to voice their opposition were silenced.

Chairman Floyd Prozanski made it clear that he is not concerned that so many were cut out and plans to move this bill as fast as possible. Democrat legislators love to tell people they can still “upload written testimony” not mentioning how difficult and failure-prone that process is or the fact that they don’t read them.

So now, unless Republican leadership makes some bold moves, this bill will be voted on and possibly amended in committee on Thursday in spite of overwhelming opposition. From there it will be sent to the Senate floor where the majority support it.

The one Democrat who can easily put a stop to this disgrace is Senate President Peter Courtney.

You have done so much. Now as we are getting close to the wire we ask that you call and email Courtney and demand he stop 554 and the demented damage it will do.

IMOA, if you have any kind of permit that id’s you as a gun owner, you are on their gun control list. These buffoons now know where you live and where to go to get it when the time comes. If no one actually reads the bill and takes each word and phrase into account they’ll continue to pass more and more restrictive gun control BS.

School district? Anyone catch that in the bill. Pretty sure every square foot of Oregon falls in one school district or another. They get together and more guns for you! Why on God’s green earth would anyone be foolish enough to vote for these people. Can no one in Oregon think for or take care of themselves?

We can in the republican districts but just like so many other states, commies in big cities out number us. We should all count votes for governor by county not the amount of people.

– No need to exaggerate. Bill is bad enough as it stands.

Bill does not allow school board to lord it over the entire area covered by the school district – just restrict carry in public buildings. I imagine schools are already GFZ target ranges, only change from including school districts would be to administrative buildings – where I imagine employees are already disarmed upon pain of being fired for cause.

Here’s how bad things are in Oregon: Oregon has a statute that says it is legal for anyone with a carry permit to carry a weapon concealed on the grounds and in the buildings of any government school, from elementary through universities. Immediately after passage of that statute, government schools began setting internal policies that any employee who exercised the right to be armed on school property would be fired, and any student who exercised the right to be armed on school property would be expelled. In other words, they made it so that virtually everyone with an interest in… Read more »

If you were to leave, would they follow?

If they leave, isn’t that giving the anti-gunners the state? Shouldn’t they and all other concerned citizens protest their congress (a group of baboons)? It is too bad when people that need to have protection for themselves, their families, and often for others have to fight their government to keep that right.

ARM UP and CARRY ON is becoming more pertinent everyday.

Yes! Send email even if you don’t live in that state . The Constitution of these United States of America includes every citizen of the United States, not just those in Oregon. When it happens in one state Look out that it doesn’t come to your state.

Doesn’t staying in a state that incrementally makes red flag laws stronger to the point they can and will come in and simply take your firearms make it better for the firearm owner? The criminal elites are in full alliance with the political elites of blue states, the red flag laws are there for that alliance of pols and criminals. In case you don’t know, criminals are exempt from those laws. After the people have some encounters with criminals who don’t have to worry about the law coming after them, those who have no backbone now will either cave in… Read more »

i don’t live in oregon but sent email anyway. it is immoral for anyone to tell someone else what, when, where or why to carry anything to defend themselves from two or four legged animals. immoral laws are unjust and should not be followed. slavery was immoral and was repealed.

There are new slavers in the government now, they intend to take as many new slaves as they can. They already have those on welfare and will increase those rolls as fast as they can by destroying jobs and redistributing wealth of the middle class and lower to the political class. That is the way communism has always worked, it is the only way it can work, until they run out of other peoples money.

Yep that’s true but they also seek to open our borders and let illegal aliens in to do sweat shop work so that leaves us out of work and the middle class American looking for jobs. That a demwit for ya.

This is the price you continue to pay if you choose to live in a Progressive Utopia. As a former Oregonian I am disappointed to say the least that this formerly beautiful place has gone full on Khmer Rouge.

Shame on you for comparing them to the Khmer Rouge: the Khmer Rouge never lied about who they were, what their intentions were, and what they were going to do! The Khmer Rouge was at least honest, the same cannot be said for Democrats in Oregon!

No, actually, you are fundamentally wrong on that issue. The leadership of the Khmer Rouge and Pathet Lao came from the elite universities of France. They were coffee house bolsheviks along the lines of Alinsky and Obama until they were actually thrust in to power by the collapse of the Indochinese governments. Once in power they realized that revolutionary theater and chats would not achieve their utopia. That is when the mass killing began. That same logic has repeated itself over and over again in collectivist coups. And it is doing so now in places like Venezuela. Leftists are stuck… Read more »

It’s not just “leftists.”

People who consider themselves “conservatives” support numerous socialist/communist philosophies and they don’t even know it. They will support those beliefs based 100% on feelings and will carry pitch forks and torches and make loud noises towards people who provide evidence that does line-up with their feelings. Venezuela is a fantastic example.

Here is what I hate. A woman stood up and testified. I hate guns, every time I see one it reminds me of when I was living in Shrilanka and it scares me, we don’t need them. So, didn’t you move to Amerka to get away from all the problems you had in Shrilanka? You don’t feel safe in your new country even though we are not the same and things are so much different here but you think because of how you FEEL, we shouldn’t be allowed to have guns or carry them? THEN FIND ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!!!!, thank you… Read more »

I don’t know. I don’t live there but because you said Multnomah County I would tend to think he is anti gun being close to Potland but because he is a sheriff he could very well be pro gun like most sheriffs are in Oregone. It’s the city police that tend to be the anti gunners. I guess I need to look him up to give an opinion that is informed. I will get back. Ok, I looked him up on facebook and watched a presentation. I heard bloomburg verbage, he has organized and works with judges to take away… Read more »

Just thought I would ask. Your response IMO tells me that you are a logical person that lets logic rule just like your postings I like so much. I was only pointing out that place of birth is not an attribute I use to form opinions about people. There are a lot of American born totalitarians who I would gladly exchange for freedom-loving people who were born in other countries.

The lady who was anti-gun and so is the American-born Sheriff. The Sheriff is more of a problem.

I agree because of his job of authority. Pleebs look up to him which can be a problem. What do you want to bet, when he pulls u over the first words out of his mouth are “do you have any weapons in the car”? Rather than, hello, do you know why I pulled you over today? I once has an officer pull me over to tell me my aggressive driving move save a couple of rear end collisions. I doubt that would happen today.

Once an elected servant makes that decision to disregard the Constitution, they become nothing more than common criminal impersonating an elected official. Those who have sworn to uphold your liberties should never be permitted to get away with knowingly violating them.

Patriot Solutions, You are pro firearm rights, so I rarely say anything about your views. Recently you went off on how the abnormal weather in Texas was due to manipulations by human beings. At that point, I wrote a comment mocking some of your posts and how you have been wrong time and time again, but you just keep going with increasing confidence that you have it all figured out. There is a parallel between you and wil. He also brings up some points that could addressed by a broad group of people, but he just keeps returning to his… Read more »

You quoting that stuff is like wil stating “do you know when the first black senator was elected?” during a conversation about decisions Blacks can make to improve their lives and the lives of their children.

Ignorance is often combined with a stubborn refusal to see past one’s nose. Applying education to the willfully ignorant is wasted effort. Most of those I’ve worked with who fall into this category were of fair intelligence (often low level PhD types) who are stuck on beliefs they refuse to contemplate.
I refer to these people as being of “fair” intelligence because I have had the honor of getting to work with some who qualify as truly great intellects.
