United States – -(AmmoLand.com)- The start of a new year is here, and as is the tradition, New Year’s resolutions will be made. While all too often, those resolutions are history by the end of January, Second Amendment supporters should be determined to keep their 2022 New Year’s resolutions. But what should they be?
Register New Voters
Let’s face it, anti-Second Amendment extremists are registering eligible voters, so we need to make sure every eligible citizen who supports the Second Amendment is also registered to vote. If some shocking numbers are correct, this alone could be the difference between victory and defeat in the swing states that put an anti-Second Amendment extremist in the White House.
Vet Candidates
Just as important in the early part of 2022 is to vet the candidates for federal, state, and local office. The fact is, if you don’t want to be stuck with a disappointment like Larry Hogan or an enigma like Dr. Oz, you need to figure out who the best alternative to those candidates are – if they are in the field.
Ask the tough questions now but keep an open mind about the options. Remember, the first vote Susan Collins cast in the Senate after 2020 was against Chuck Schumer. If Schumer is the minority leader, he can’t do things like nuke the filibuster.
Pass Legislation To Fight Financial Deplatforming
Yes, social media censors Second Amendment supporters. Yes, we have serious threats from Gavin Newsom and other inventive anti-Second Amendment extremists. But if the firearms industry or “gun promotion organizations” (read: pro-Second Amendment organizations and outlets like Ammoland) on a financial blacklist, the Second Amendment will be history. State versions of the Freedom Financing Act must be the top legislative priority of Second Amendment supporters.
Make The Case to Everyone
If the 2021 election teaches Second Amendment supporters anything, they need to learn that the voters we don’t reach out to are the ones we will not have a chance to win over. Like Susan Collins, Glenn Youngkin has shown Second Amendment supporters an important technique in how to win elections in hostile territory.
Given the political landscape in Virginia, Youngkin may not be at the level of Josh Hawley in defending the Second Amendment, but his techniques have much to commend themselves to Second Amendment supporters.
Turn Out The Votes
Of course, all of the above will not matter if we do not get every pro-Second Amendment voter out to the polls. Know the laws governing elections and absentee ballots in your state and/or locality and get the vote out as aggressively as possible while staying within the law. Campaign like your First and Second Amendment rights are at stake… because they really are at stake.
Second Amendment supporters have a lot of work to do in 2022. The crucial task will be to defeat anti-Second Amendment extremists via the ballot box at the federal, state, and local levels this coming November. Then comes the task of replacing the Biden-Harris regime with a pro-Second Amendment President and Vice President.

Voting is the solution? Were you awake during the last national election or did you sleep through it? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is Einstein’s classic definition of insanity. How many times are you going to participate in a corrupt process and think somehow it is going to work for you? Would you knowingly sit in on a poker game where all the other players are cheating and expect to win? You can walk away and not play and nothing will change, or you can shut the game down, get rid of the… Read more »
You really wanna make a difference? Stop voting for people based on the letter after their name! Actually look into their voting record. The vast majority of Republicans claiming to be pro-2A have supported infringement. Stop voting for people based on their party affiliation and out of fear of “the other guy” winning. As long as these Butters and Fudds keep winning elections they’ll keep doing what they’ve been doing and that’s infringing on your rights a little at time. Make it clear to your candidates that not only will you not stand for one more arms law but you… Read more »

To start with three items need to be removed from the NFA. Short barrel rifles, short barrel shotgun and sound suppressors. TO START. The whole stinking thing needs to be scrapped. I’m going to get folks to start hounding Arkansas representatives. How about calling your state representatives and pressuring them to introduce and/or support pro-2A legislation, whether it be constitutional carry, or any of a host of other measures (you know what your state needs to pass). Calling works 100 times better than an email, so pick up that phone and let your voices be heard!

Wow? Most of you guys STILL don’t understand the process and what MUST be done? WOW?
Add to the list these two things. First, join and support your state affiliate of the NRA. These state level organizations are your local lead to supporting the shooting sports in your state and local area and are often the ones to lobby and vet politicians in your state house and county and municipal levels. If your state affiliate is not politically inclined, join one of the ‘Citizens Defense Leagues’ who often work In tandem with your state affiliate but focus on the political and legislative and allow the NRA state affiliate to focus on the educational and recreational and… Read more »
