Newark, NJ – Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, one of New Jersey’s most vocal anti-gun Democrats and a proud endorsee of Everytown for Gun Safety, has just been indicted by a federal grand jury on three criminal counts for physically assaulting federal immigration officers outside an ICE detention center in Newark.
According to the indictment, McIver—seen on video in a red jacket—shoved and elbowed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during a May 2025 protest-turned-chaotic confrontation. The charges include forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers, which could land the freshman congresswoman up to 17 years in prison if convicted.
McIver, who co-sponsored a bill to spend $360 million of taxpayer money to buy back guns the government never owned, now finds herself at the center of a different kind of federal operation—this time, not as a sponsor but as a suspect.
“While people are free to express their views for or against particular policies,” said U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, “they must not do so in a manner that endangers law enforcement and the communities those officers serve.”

McIver isn’t alone. She was one of several Democrat officials, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Rep. Robert Menendez Jr., whose father just started an eleven-year prison sentence, all who stormed the Delaney Hall ICE detention center in a headline-grabbing political stunt. The facility was actively processing violent criminal suspects at the time—among them MS-13 gang members and fugitives wanted for homicide, rape, and terrorism.
These same lawmakers, who have spent years trying to restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners, now stand accused of obstructing those who protect our borders and communities from actual threats.
Ironically, McIver’s public push for “common-sense gun safety” includes restricting magazine sizes and banning so-called “assault weapons.” Yet when ICE agents were doing the job of removing dangerous criminals—including cartel-linked suspects—McIver crossed the line from protest to physical interference.
Yet, on the day of her indictment what is one of her greatest concerns? She’s worried that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as well as other federal agencies, are being mobilized to help with the removal of criminal illegal aliens and not harassing lawful gun owners.

From Gun Control Bills to Criminal Charges
McIver is the lead sponsor of the Safer Neighborhoods Gun Buyback Act, which would funnel hundreds of millions into federal “buyback” programs. Her plan? Give out prepaid cards at 125% of market value to get guns off the streets. Critics say it’s a disarmament scheme that would leverage federal tax dollars to bribe state and local governments to take the bait and promote the propaganda of removing so-called bad guns off the street.
Now the same lawmaker who wants to take guns from responsible Americans has been caught on video putting her hands on federal officers trying to detain actual criminals.
Hypocrisy on Full Display
Let’s be blunt: McIver and her colleagues want to regulate your ability to own a 9mm pistol, yet they’re willing to physically disrupt ICE agents handling human traffickers, gang members, rapist and murders, all foreign fugitives.
It’s another glaring example of how the loudest gun-control advocates often turn out to be the least respectful of the law themselves. McIver may claim she’s “keeping communities safe,” but her actions outside Delaney Hall suggest otherwise.
As this case unfolds, voters across the country—and especially in New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District—should be asking: If McIver can’t respect law enforcement at a secure federal facility, why should we trust her with decisions about our constitutional rights?
McIver says she will plead not guilty. The rest of us are still waiting for her to plead accountable.

Throw the BOOK at that Corrupt Bitch.
I think that every single one of them should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I see criminals doing stupid stuff like this and it is expected from them. These are leaders in our government and should be role models for other citizens. When they do things to become violent then the rest of the people attending these rallies and protest feel they can follow the leader. It is not right that politicians are above the law. They should have to abide by the laws they are elected to operate under.
I doubt she will do any real time, she is a protected species.
Video doesn’t support their narrative she assaulted the agents, but it does show they assaulted her and her colleagues, and then the melee began when the agents attempted to strong-arm her group out.
Don’t just indict her. Bring it all the way through to a conviction & throw the book at her! Make an example out of her!
