Palmetto State Armory just confirmed the launch of their highly-anticipated PSA SABRE ARV Pistol Caliber Carbine, and it’s set to hit their site on Friday, July 11th, 2025, at 4:30 PM. For those of us who already loved the ARV platform, PSA just took it up a notch with this SABRE upgrade—and it looks like an absolute beast.
PSA SABRE ARV Pistol Caliber Carbine
So, what makes the SABRE ARV stand out? For starters, PSA teamed up with Maxim to bring their roller delayed blowback (RDB) system into the mix. That means smoother shooting and noticeably softer recoil for a 9mm PCC. Sure, the bolt might feel a little stiffer to charge out of the box (thanks to that ball-bearing system), but PSA assures us it’ll break in after a few range trips.
What’s Under the Hood?
Here’s a quick rundown of the features:
- Maxim Roller Delayed Buffer System for reduced felt recoil.
- SABRE QDSM Handguard paired with an 8.5-inch nitrided barrel (1:10 twist, 1/2×28 threaded).
- Hard Chrome-Coated BCG for reliability and easy maintenance.
- Premium upgrades like a Radian Raptor LT charging handle, Radian Talon safety, and SABREclaw two-stage trigger.
- SBA4 brace in RAL 8000 finish for that slick SABRE look.
PSA also showed off a custom SBR setup in the video with an EOTech, suppressor, and front handgrip—and yes, it looked as good as it performed.
Why This Is a Big Deal
The original ARV was already a fun, affordable PCC, but the SABRE treatment pushes it into premium territory without breaking the bank. The RDB system alone is a huge upgrade for anyone looking to train hard with a 9mm AR pistol while keeping control tight and recoil light.
Not just another Pistol Caliber Carbine. It’s PSA’s answer to all the folks asking for a smoother, tougher, and more feature-packed ARV pistol.

Final Word
If you’re into PCCs or you’ve been looking for something different for range days, the SABRE ARV should be on your radar. With the Maxim RDB system and PSA’s SABRE upgrades, it looks like one of the most fun 9mm ARs of 2025.
Mark your calendar: Friday, July 11th, 4:30 PM. You won’t want to miss this drop.
Btw…in the opening picture, the shooter is shouldering what should be a pistol brace but appears to be a stock; that makes this firearm an SBR.
When will the .45 ACP version be out? A subsonic 230gr. .45 ACP suppressed Saber would be the perfect PCC.
Yeah, I have some concerns about this firearm being called a “carbine”. By federal definition a carbine has a barrel length of 16″ and an overall length of 26″.
Pistols can have barrels under 16″ as can short barreled rifles.
It sounds cool, but this isn’t a carbine.

According to the ATF, this CANNOT be a PCC. It says it has an 8.5″ barrel.
This is either a pistol, or an SBR.
Which is it?
