In a powerful testament to grassroots activism and legislative pushback, recent developments signal a significant challenge to what many see as overreaches by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The focus is a massive, nearly billion-record gun registry that has alarmed gun rights advocates and spurred action from Congressional leaders.
The Unfolding Scenario
In 2022, AmmoLand News’ John Crump uncovered that the ATF was maintaining a searchable database containing over 920 million records related to gun purchases. This database, largely digital, stands in direct violation of the clear prohibitions set by federal law against such a registry, echoing fears of a slippery slope towards broader firearms confiscation—a tactic seen in other countries and long feared by American gun rights proponents.
The discovery prompted immediate action from Congress, with leaders like Senator James Risch and Representative Michael Cloud introducing the “No Registry Rights Act.” This proposed legislation aims to dismantle the ATF’s registry and restore adherence to the original intent of the Firearms Owner Protection Act, which strictly prohibits any form of national gun registry.
The Role of Advocacy and Legislative Efforts
The GOA’s efforts and subsequent legislative proposals underscore a critical point: Vigilance and advocacy remain essential in protecting Second Amendment rights and should serve as a rallying call for gun owners to engage with their elected representatives to support the efforts.
Senator Risch’s bill is more than a legislative formality; it’s a necessary step back toward the principles of liberty and privacy that are foundational to the American ethos.
By requiring the ATF to certify the destruction of all records, the bill aims to eliminate the registry’s immediate threat and prevent future administrations from reviving such practices.
The Importance of Gun Owner Community Involvement
As this situation unfolds, it’s crucial for gun owners and advocates to remain engaged. The call to action is clear: contact your representatives in both the House and Senate to express support for the No Registry Rights Act. This isn’t just about one piece of legislation; it’s about reinforcing the safeguards around our liberties and ensuring that regulatory agencies operate within the bounds of law and respect for individual rights.
Keep Up The Fight
While the fight against the ATF’s gun registry is a significant battle in the broader war to protect gun rights, it’s also a moment of potential unity and empowerment for gun owners across the nation. By understanding the implications of unchecked governmental overreach and taking collective action, the community can safeguard not only the Second Amendment but also the very principles of privacy and due process.
This issue serves as a stark reminder of the continuous need for vigilance and proactive engagement in the political process—a reminder that rights must be defended actively, not passively accepted as guaranteed.
As we continue to monitor this issue and support efforts to dismantle the ATF’s illegal gun owner registry, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that our rights are not eroded by bureaucratic overreach. The stakes are high, and the time to act is now. Join the movement, make your voice heard, and help steer the future toward a path that respects and upholds our fundamental freedoms.

ATF Keeping 920+ Million Firearm Records with Almost All Digitized
obviously they (batfe officials) know that a firearms registry is unconstitutional and therefore illegal, yet they still continue to hold and accumulate more owners information.
there have to be swift and severe repercussions for these government agents or they will continue to violate the law. if they are not held to the same level of accountability as we the people are we have a two tiered system of justice, heavily favorable towards the government.
Time for the law breaking clowns at the ATF to be held accountable for their crimes against the American people . We demand justice and accountability from these corrupt clowns at the ATF .
If Trump fought to move this forward and signed it, he’d gain a lot of brownie points with gun owners.
But I doubt anything will come of this, with Bondi as AG.
The ATF is a nightmare they are part of the department of Justice before the Treasury department. Steve Dettelbach, Director has done a terrible job since 2022. The democrats have weaponized that agency which should be closed down as they have used nefarious methods to conduct raids warrants strip the constitutional rights of those Americans involved in there investigations. In 1972 92nd congress was a draw in 1973 The 93rd Congress, which sat from January 3, 1973 to January 3, 1975, had strong Democratic majorities in both houses. The Democratic majority in the House was 241–192, and in the Senate… Read more »
Bottom line. The left, the NWO and the UN do not want us to have guns and part of the UN requirement is that all gun ownership be reported to them. I am sure ObiDUMB has already provided that list and is updating it as more records become available. Remember his words “its the NWO and you can’t stop it”. In addition, my understanding is that new rules were made so no president can withdraw us from the UN again like Trump previously did. Even after the records are destroyed, there will be a backup copy somewhere that will re-emerge… Read more »
There have been voices raised against such a registry since the 1960s.
there has been no congressional intent passed to create a registry.
Yet, such a registry has come into existence.
Apparently, we the people, are supposed to trust that this information
has not been sold to agencies beyond our government, preparatory
to an offensive maneuver against Americans, sometime in the very
near future. In my opinion, the J6 Fedsurrection, was the threat of a
promised physical civil war against Americans, their constitution,
institutions, and ethos.
(((This database, largely digital, stands in direct violation of the clear prohibitions set by federal law against such a registry))). More smoke and mirrors while the people are like lambs to the slaughter. I would like to see the file on all the Congressional misconduct where retribution is paid with citizens tax dollars, then hidden away from the view of the American people. How about drug testing, background checks and term limits, are they not employees of the American people. Vote yourself a raise, what a concept, if and when they get a raise it should be no more than… Read more »
Nothing will be destroyed except for show. There are 10-billion duplicates sitting in server farms all over the world. We are WAY beyond ever clearing the registry, short of world apocalypse. Or perhaps several emp’s.
Active, not passive. Organize. Educate. Motivate. Act. Vote. The last act, voting is where we are coming up short. There are two distinct communities in the US population who are missing in action at the polls: evangelical Christians and gun owners. To effect change we need to influence elections. The left does this very well. Of course, this is all they do well. They are good at seizing power but not good at using the tools of government for the common good. A grand example is currently burning and self-destructing on our Left Coast: California. Challenge your hunting and shooting… Read more »
FBATFE is already violating law, with no repercussions. No one sent to jail, fined and fired. No fixing the issue. So, what is a shiny new law gonna do? Congress considers the voters idiots, and voters prove they are, when they fall for red meat bills that won’t pass and wouldn’t do squat even if they did pass (since they have no enforcement provisions, ie teeth).
