Indiana State Senator Jim Tomes (R-49) In The NRA-ILA Spotlight
Senator Jim Tomes is a true friend of the Second Amendment and a staunch supporter of our firearm rights.
Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- NRA-ILA would like to applaud the long-standing pro-gun advocacy of newly-elected Indiana State Senator Jim Tomes (R-49).
Jim Tomes began his political life as a frustrated firearm owner during the gun control days of the Clinton Administration. An Army Vietnam veteran, former factory employee, Teamsters truck driver and union steward, Tomes became increasingly frustrated by the Clinton Administration’s crusade to strip away our gun rights. This frustration led Tomes to become an NRA- ILA Election Volunteer Coordinator (EVC) to help elect pro-gun candidates in Indiana.

Indiana State Senator Jim Tomes (R-49) In The NRA-ILA Spotlight
On a cold, Sunday morning in January 1999, Tomes and six other gentlemen met at their local gun shop to vent their frustration about the ruthless attacks perpetuated on American citizens’ right to own firearms.
They called themselves the “2nd Amendment Patriots,” and a local grassroots activist organization was born. In the beginning, a good crowd was 15 people. Today, the 2nd Amendment Patriots regularly conduct monthly meetings of 100-200 people!
In 2000, the “2nd Amendment Patriots” received the “NRA-ILA Volunteer Organization of the Year Award.” For over a decade, Jim and Margie Tomes have been a proactive team, giving voice to Hoosier gun owners. They sent e-mail alerts and conducted phone trees to contact state and local officials regarding firearm issues and legislation, and worked directly with legislators to introduce and pass pro-gun laws. After a decade of working on behalf of the Second Amendment and traveling the state speaking to other groups about becoming actively involved in defending our firearm freedoms, Jim Tomes was elected to the Indiana State Senate in District 49.
Senator Jim Tomes is a true friend of the Second Amendment and a staunch supporter of our firearm rights. NRA members, gun owners, hunters, and shooters in Indiana should contact Sen. Tomes and thank him for his unwavering support and advocacy!
