BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- Weeks after Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley signed one of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, a bloodbath continues in Baltimore where June ended with dozens of shootings, prompting the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to ask gun control proponents what they really accomplished.

“Maryland lawmakers passed fingerprinting and licensing to prevent criminals from getting guns and thus reduce gun violence,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Evidently, criminals didn’t get the message.”

The new law does not take effect until Oct. 1 2013, but all the talk and high-profile politicking was supposed to have sent a message to Marylanders that it is time to ratchet down on the violence. Baltimore clergy are also speaking out, calling on citizens to stop the violence.

“Criminals who ignore the current law will continue to ignore the new law as they have done elsewhere,” he predicted. “The new law was passed with good intentions, but surely the Baltimore clergy and their colleagues around the state know where the road paved with good intentions leads.

“Over the past few weeks,” he continued, “we have seen Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence taking credit for pushing through the new law. Does that mean when it doesn’t work, they will acknowledge their error and help to undo the damage they have done to the rights of law-abiding citizens?

Does it mean that lawmakers who passed the legislation and Gov. O’Malley will accept responsibility if the blood-letting continues, or will they try to blame gun owners and gun rights organizations for their own failure?

“Baltimore has racked up more than 115 homicides so far this year,” Gottlieb noted. “The city is, no pun intended, a bloody mess, and tough new gun laws will not change that, because they penalize and inconvenience the wrong people.

“Putting the brakes on bad behavior should not involve treating good people like criminals,” he concluded. “Just like Chicago, the gun control lobby in Maryland is reaping what it has sewn.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to [email protected].

This law like most of the others is nothing more than a power grab of our rights and freedoms. Bottom line is when the peasants resist make sure they have no arms……

I am a former Maryland resident , unfortunately A–holes will always be A–holes , they are ALWAYS wrong but never have the courage to admit it and undo the damage they cause to law abiding American citizens .

A free man who has not been deemed such a danger to society that he should be executed has a right to his life and thus a right to defend that life. Regulating possession and carrying of guns so criminals who actually belong behind bars can be set free is not constitutional on any imaginable level. Thus, we need to overturn every gun law related to the possession and carrying of firearms and strictly enforce all gun laws related to using a gun in the course of committing a violent crime such as armed robbery.

Replace the “y” with an “x” and you have the new state name “Marxland”, appropriate for a state that prefers having subjects rather than armed citizens. We may as well start removing stars from the flag, several states have left the union as defined by the constitution.

How much of the meal do these idiots have to eat before they realize that it’s beef? Gun Control DOES NOT work! And it NEVER will! Ridiculous laws don’t affect criminals, they don’t follow laws. That’s why we call them criminals. It’s not complicated.

Someone remind me: that old saying; the road to hell is paved with ___________.

Gun control activists, generally, have little contact with the realities of life – including the reality of how little impact their legislative actions will have on the bad guys. They often live in gated communities, have armed guards protecting them at home and/or at work, and can’t process much beyond “but at least it’s SOMETHING…right?” Go drive a nail into a board. Miss the nail and smash your thumb. Do you blame the hammer for the pain you’re feeling? If you do, you’re well on the way to being a liberal gun-control activist. If you don’t…welcome to the Association of… Read more »

To my mind anti second amendment rights activists and politicians have become just as much of a threat to life and liberty as can be tolerated. Well meaning? So what a danger and criminal is far more relevant. Civility twards a threat to my families safety and G-d given rights? I think not.

And Marylands hangs her head in shame; the Mayor of New York City dictates what we may do. She is no longer “the Free State.”
