Tallahassee, FL -(AmmoLand.com)- On Tuesday, Oct 20th, the Senate Criminal Justice Committee will hear two Pro-Second Amendment Bills, SB 300 by Sen. Gaetz and SB 344 by Sen. Bradley, details to follow in coming days.

For now, please Sign the Petition to legalize Open Carry in Florida. Open Carry is legal in most of the country. Most often open carry is practiced in very innocuous ways.

For example, a concealed carrier who leaves their coat off while pumping gas or the hiker who openly carries in the field. Florida’s Open Carry ban is so strict that it would be illegal for a concealed carry licensee to take off a jacket at a friend’s house if doing so exposed a holstered handgun.

There are other times when a law-abiding gun owner may choose to carry openly rather than concealed. Late at night while getting cash at a ATM, while working outdoors on someone’s property during the summer, or even just running an errand without needing to re-dress to fully conceal a handgun.

Regardless of motivation, or even in cases of accidental exposure, Florida’s Licensees have proven that they use good judgement when they carry and should not face criminal prosecution for not hiding their firearms.

Why not petition for constitutional carry? It would solve the issues of open and conceal carry options. Besides you can not tax or fee a right. Federal laws are written. But legislatures forget that because liberals say the 2A is different. If a gay man can marry another man as a right. I should have the right to carry how I want when I want. Rights don’t change because politicians say it should. Stop infringing on our right to bear arms.

The server at Change.org is malfunctioning, or so it says. I’m skeptical. I’ve signed petitions aplenty there, and this never happened before.

I agree that the right to openly carry MUST be preserved.

Luckily, my home state (Oklahoma) approves/allows open carry (at least, by licensees). Although I personally choose not to carry openly as a regular/consistent habit – I consider the drawbacks to be too substantial – that specific choice must be legally available to every law-abiding adult citizen.

For most citizens with concealed carry permits, it isn’t neccessary to carry openly. I have had on occasion when my weapon was inadvertantly exposed and subjected me to becoming a criminal by accident. I agree that open carry will eliminate that from happening.

I think this is a great idea.
