Douglas Martzall, of an undisclosed town in Ohio, registered with GunBroker.com late in the day on Monday, February 16 and was contacted by GunBroker.com officials shortly thereafter with the news that he was the auction site’s 1,250,000th registered user. Martzall told GunBroker.com representatives, “I saw the ad for GunBroker.com in Shotgun News and went on line and checked it out. I said ‘Wow. This is great.’ I immediately registered and I E-mailed a bunch of friends and suggested that they register. If they’re smart, they did.”
Steve Urvan, GunBroker.com founder and CEO, added to Martzall’s excitement when he announced that GunBroker.com would welcome Martzall as the 1,250,000th registered user with a check for $1,000.00. “We suggested it might be appropriate if Doug used the money for purchase of items on GunBroker.com, but we didn’t insist on it,” Urvan commented.
“This was not an official promotion or a contest of any sort,” Urvan commented. “We have been signing up thousands of new users every week and just felt we wanted to do something a little special for number 1,250,000.”
