Exeter, NH –-(AmmoLand.com)- Team SIG Champion Shooter, Max Michel, narrowly missed first place at the US National Steel Championship, held in Titusville, FL, from March 24 through the 29th.

In its 4th year of being held at the Titusville Rifle & Pistol Club, the US National Steel Championship has quickly developed a reputation as being one of the premier shooting competitions in the country.

Michel was behind by 2 seconds going into the last stage and broke the record on “Outer Limits” while under pressure with 11.11 seconds. Max broke his second record of the day during the “Pendulum” stage when he shot 9.29 seconds. He came in second place overall, only .01 seconds behind west coast shooter K.C. Eusebio, who placed first in Open Division for 2010.

Max Michel and Eusebio both shattered the old Open Division match record score of 80.09. That record was set by Eusebio during the 2007 competition. This year Michel shot 78.02, only to be bested by Eusebio who retained his title of Match Record Holder by shooting a 78.01, beating out Michel for the top spot and title by .01 of a second.

“The competition was strong this year,” Max Michel commented. “To enter the last stage with 2 seconds behind Eusebio and to come back to place second by .01 seconds is not an easy feat to do, but when you are using a gun like a SIG, it sure does help.”

Max Michel’s next competition is the Area 6 Championship in Covington, Georgia on April 16-18, 2010.
