Is Bill S-223 a Dangerous “Trojan Horse?”

Etobicoke, ON -(AmmoLand.com)- She’s baaaack. Just when you thought it was safe to go into the Senate of Canada, along comes Senator Céline Hervieux-Payette with the newest incarnation of her Draconian anti-gun bill, now called Bill S-223.

This is the latest of several legislative introductions the honorable Senator has made to inflict a wicked piece of garbage on Canadians.

The bill would change the “Restricted” category to “Circumscribed” (cutting off the flash hider of your AR-15?), prohibit all firearms except a VERY narrow range of hunting firearms and “localize” the prohibition of restricted firearms. In other words, that’s centralized lock up of some of your guns and destruction of the rest.

ALL SEMI-AUTOS OF ALL TYPES (except .22s) WOULD BE RESTRICTED/ PROHIBITED.

As well, no one would be allowed to move circumscribed (restricted/prohibited) guns except approved “Transporters.” Of course, these would be made up of highly trained, untouchable and steely-eyed folks – like Canada Post, but even better.

Guns would not be “registered” but “inscribed.” Says the good Senator: “You can appreciate that the terms ‘registration’ and ‘registered’ have been used so often that we simply thought that using the term ‘inscription’ would eliminate some anxiety. I think that using the term inscription does not evoke feelings of fear”

Yes, it’s true, she really does think you are that stupid.

Seemingly, she also thinks the media and the rest of Canadians are stupid enough to be fooled by this childish attempt at deceit.

The Senator also states: “The firearm death rate in the United States, a country with very weak gun control laws, was 10.3 per 100,000 population in 2011. That amounts to 32,163 deaths in one year, according to the National Vital Statistic Reports from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. That would be the number of deaths if 20 towers, like those of the World Trade Center, were to collapse every year in the United States. There were 2,977 victims on September 11, 2001.”

Apparently she failed arithmetic too.

Twenty World Trade Center tragedies would total 59,540, not 32,163. She also quotes the U.S. example as proof that Canada is different because of our gun control while failing to recognize that as the numbers of U.S. firearms goes up, violent crime with firearms goes down. Apparently the Senator’s facts only go in one direction and her prowess in deciphering and analyzing social trends and dangers is only dwarfed by her considerable mathematics skills.

As the last pail of stupid gets thrown into the tub, all restricted/prohibited would be forbidden to transfer.

There’s a lot more too. Some 76 pages of legalese gobbledygook to decipher, but we are on it!

The bill cannot receive second reading until the Liberals and the Conservatives speak to the bill. The Liberals are set to speak on April 19 and the Conservative are TBA, but we are watching this closely. Bill S-223 has had a HUGE amount of work put into its creation. It took a number of Department of Justice lawyers a few months of work to create this one – and that is very concerning.

We will be listening to the Liberal’s statement on the bill, anxious to hear if their promise to not create a gun registry meant that it was okay to create an “inscription registry.” If this bill passes second reading, we go to war!

Stay tuned, polish your armor and sharpen your swords.

Truly unbelievable that we have either elected or in this case appointed senators who are not in touch with the real world..The law abiding citizens are again being targeted instead of criminals, gangs or mentally disturbed people. The criminals smuggle guns into Canada that are not legal in Canada and we slap their wrists . Don’t do that again or else. This senators response is to outlaw semi automatic shotguns and rifles. Instead of storing them at your residence in a locked safe she wishes to have a facility where guns must be stored and have a system where they can… Read more »

The people need to wake -up we will lose our rights to bear arms they will basically take away our right to hunt and protect our family from criminals. The bill is very clear. All center-fire long guns, except shot guns are to be reclassified from “hunting rifles” to “restricted firearms” and will be required to be stored in storage facilities at a gun range. ALL HUNTING RIFLES ARE CENTER-FIRE!!!!! Old WWII converted army rifles are center-fire, Lee Enfield 303 are center-fire, old Mauser 8mm are center-fire, Winchester 30-30 are center-fire, Savage 308 are center-fire, all 30.06 caliber rifles etc…… Read more »

This is an unfortunate example of another huge waste of our tax dollars at the whim of a group of individuals painfully ignorant of their responsibilities to the people of this Country. As a Canadian I am embarrassed someone of such low calibre has weaseled a living off the backs of you and I .

Another fraud. If you do the research the Western Provinces ran a registration from 1917 to 1920 then dropped it. Parlament tried to then take over but it was not allowed. In 1925 Sec 25 was added to the old Criminal Code stating a person was allowed to carry a fire arm if they felt it was necessary for protection of life and property. In 1930Britain set us free but left the BNA Act with a without predjudice clause so we had legislation in place. Well in 1933 they whined and sniveled as to why we still had GG and… Read more »

OK my northern brethren, back in the trenches! Do what you did with the long gun registration fiasco. Separate and unequal should not be the relationship between government and the populace of a country. Seems this Senator might be old enough to remember a bit about World War ll. Ask her how her game might have worked out then when Japan and Germany were looking this way. Of course she and her ilk should be adamant about forgoing any armed protection in their official capacities. Fortitude and good luck. This might be a good “teaching” opportunity for the general citizenry… Read more »

Just another example of the flawed thinking that goes on at all government levels. And yet another instance that shows all concerned Canadians how utterly useless the Senate is. Imagine the taxpayer’s money been spent to further this lunatic Senator’s firearm agenda? These people and her ilk NEVER let the facts get in their way.

This is the gun grab we’ve all been fearing…..they can take every legal fire arm, all they did was disarm a loyal populous, and they wont get one illegal firearm that is being used to intimidation and crime.

This has been my biggest fear since the Liberals came into power last year. I understand that whack job Senator has to retire at the end of this week when she turns 75, lets hope this bill retires with her. I’m willing to fight tooth and nail to be able to lawfully keep all my registered restricted weapons. This bill S-223 is as scary as Madam Hervieux-Payette.
