U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- When I received the Alien Gear Cloak Magazine Holster I had high hopes. I recently reviewed the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 holster and I loved the look and feel of it.

It was the closest I have ever gotten to a perfect holster. I was expecting the best, and it turns out I got the best.

The holster came in a black plastic bag. Inside the bag in addition to the magazine holster was the normal advertising stuff, NRA stuff, and Alien Gear stickers.

I removed the holster and noticed the Neoprene pad to protect your skin when you are carrying the holster inside the waistband. This is very similar to other Alien Gear holsters.

I looked over the magazine holder and saw how to adjust the retention by tightening or loosening some nuts. I looked in the bag for the allen key that Alien Gear usually provide, but I didn’t find one.

After looking over the holster some more I discovered that the allen key is actually attached to the holster, a cool hidden feature. This is a great idea and lets the user change the retention on the fly.

I decided to leave the retention alone and wear the holster inside the waistband for one week. The Alien Gear Magazine Holster does have a cool feature though. With a few quick adjustments and no extra tools this inside the waistband magazine holster detaches from the neoprene backing and becomes an outside the waistband mag holster.

With that in mind I decided for a second week I would wear it as an outside the waistband holster.

Wearing the holster inside the waistband is as comfortable as can be expected. No single magazine holster has ever been comfortable wearing them inside the waistband to me, but the Alien Gear Cloak Magazine holster gets as close as possible to being as comfortable as possible. When worn on the outside it is almost like it isn’t there. The clips provided keep the holster in place with very little movement. In the future I will be wearing it outside the waistband with my shirt over it to give it concealment.

To wear the holster outside the waistband you simple remove the magazine bucket from the neoprene backing and change the clips to the outside the waistband clips that are included. It is very easy to change the draw angle of the holster by simply rotating the holster then tightening the holster in place. This along with the adjustable retention is a level of customization I haven’t seen in a magazine holster before. Customization is what is missing in this industry, but Alien Gear is trying to change that.

During my trip to the range I practiced pulling my Glock 43 firing two shots, dropping the magazine from the gun and drawing another magazine from the magazine holster and firing. The retention was perfect. Even though the magazine held solid while running with it in the holster it was still easy to draw. I also let a couple of my range buddies try it out and they were as equally impressed as I was when wearing the holster outside the waistband.

Alien Gear holsters all come with a 30 day test drive that lets you test out the holsters, but after a few days you will fall in love with it. Also Alien Gear offers a “forever” warranty. If anything ever breaks Alien Gear will repair or replace the holster. This is one of the best warranties in the industry.

Alien Gear Magazine Holsters can be purchased in single or double magazine configuration directly from their website located at www.aliengearholsters.com

    1. I have had (and have worn on a daily basis) an Alien Gear holster for over two years now. It is remarkably comfortable and functional… as well as being nicely affordable [high quality at a bargain price].

One additional feature is Alien’s upgrade offer… return the shell when you no longer need it, and get a free shell for whatever new pistol you obtain (you re-use the existing backing plate).

I highly recommend Alien!! (No, I’m not an employee or paid advertisement… just a really satisfied customer.)

    2. A DUAL IWB magazine holster (which many of us keep asking them for), would be exponentially MORE comfortable due to the surface area being 2.5 times that of a single.

      Come on AlienGear…
