Universal Background Checks Simply Won’t Work

Virginia – -(Ammoland.com)- Universal Background Check legislation poses a very real threat to our right to keep and bear arms and, ultimately, to our liberty itself.

Your ability to sell your guns will become cumbersome and more expensive.

Worse, UBC laws will lead to gun registration schemes as a means of enforcement, home “compliance inspections” to ensure that those registration schemes have been followed, and, finally, confiscation (which has already occurred in other states).

The antis couch Universal Background Check laws as being “common sense” and as closing a “loophole used by criminals to get guns.” Those who take that on face value and who don’t realize the full implications, including many gun owners who too often agree.

Member Dave Klaus, a professional in marketing, decided that Virginia Citizens Defense League's flyer on the dangers of Universal Background Checks wasn't snazzy enough, so he put in a great graphic and jazzed up the flyer with shortened text.

I like it!

Sounds more like you’re a convicted criminal who shouldn’t have any guns in the first place.

Don’t be a putz. Ronald isn’t the first person to have this problem. Remember, Ted Kennedy was actually placed on the no fly list because somebody else with the same name was an issue. My brother spent 2 weeks in jail in San Diego because another person with the same name, same age, same home state was wanted for murder. Remember, we are innocent until proven guilty. Not the other way around. Stop infringing on our rights so that we can carry, and then it won’t matter, because as soon as a terrorist pulls out his gun, he’ll be stopped… Read more »

Good grief…let’s hope you’re in D.C. or NYC. Hate to think you’re wandering around in America armed.

The whole point is to make lawful purchase and possession more expensive. Criminals steal guns, the price of a gun is of no matter to a thief.. To enforce a universal background check, every home, apartment and business must submit to “inspection” to verify that there are no guns or that any guns were purchased by way of a universal background check. You will have to show that you owned the gun, each and every gun, before the date of the UNiversal check. You will need a receipt from a FFL for each gun or you will have to pass… Read more »

Roger that, Jim Macklin, and it is time to push for repeal of the NFA and the GCA, and decommission the BATFE!

Thank you. On the NFA, an Arkansas federal court ruled the entire NFA to be unconstitutional and dismissed Miller. The government immediately appealed the case in 1939 to the SCOUS which DID NOT find the law to be constitutional. The Court remanded the case to the original Arkansas court to hold a trial and take evidence and testimony so the facts would be “within judicial notice” allowing the Court to actually decide the case. The trial never happened. The remand order failed to include an injunction stopping enforcement of NFA. Somebody killed Miller and the government has not held any… Read more »

M, an excellent recitation of the procedural history! Given the makeup of the court and the circumstances, I don’t think that the S.Ct will take it up. I do think that the Congress and PEOTUS can be pushed to repeal both.

Why is the Second Amendment the only right that has to be approved by the government?

Back ground check will not solve the problem because the problem is the liberals do not believe in punishment for those who break the law ( drug dealers, gang members, thieves and the like.
Obama just said he did not want to see a registry for Muslims because it is against there rights but he has no problem with a registry for gun owners, double standard.

I Am A VCDL Member. Universal Background Checks do NOT work and we will NOT have them! How would they be enforced anyway? A Police Officer will follow everybody around 24/7???? Think on that!
