Oregon to Force Mandatory Firearm Storage Requirements

The Oregon Firearms Federation published a statement supporting a measure in Columbia County establishing what is generically called a "Second Amendment Sanctuary." The measure passed but will it stand? iStock-884203732

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- On Thursday, March 11, at 1:00 pm, the House Committee on Healthcare (HCC) is scheduled to hear the anti-gun bill, House Bill 2510.  HB 2510 requires owners or possessors of firearms, to lock up their firearms and impose increased fines and strict liability penalties for failing to do so.  Please use the TAKE ACTION button below to contact members of the committee to urge their opposition to HB 2510.  Additionally, it’s important to submit testimony directly to the committee, as reports have indicated that those wishing to provide oral testimony have had mixed success due to technical difficulties. Instructions for participating remotely and submitting written testimony can be found here.

TAKE ACTION CLICK HERE

HB 2510, sponsored by Representative Rachel Prusak (D-37), imposes government-mandated standards for storing a firearm, rendering a person’s firearm useless when needed for self-defense.  This is a matter of personal responsibility, not government oversight.  HB 2510 requires firearms to be locked when not in use, even at home, and during transportation.  Failing to do so could cost you $500-$2,000 and result in misdemeanor charges for violations, which are imposed on each firearm.

HB 2510 does not stop there.  It also victimizes gun owners who suffer loss or theft of their property by imposing fines and strict liability on them, rather than the thief, for up to two years following the theft.

These measures only target gun owners and, instead of preventing crime, incentivizes it for criminals. NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters need to remain vigilant and speakup to oppose HB 2510.

And just how do they intend to enforce it…???

My thoughts exactly. Good luck just walking into a home to look and see with no reason.

  • Someone close to the person (or was close to the person) gets angry over something and calls the police as an act of revenge
  • Someone convinces a young child to talk about guns in the home

Most totalitarian regimes relied on people informing on others. They had programs to turn children against their parents.

No kids at 57 y/o and my wife shoots in 3 gun comps all through Fl.I tried the 3 gun, was not for me ( to many Tactikool dudes) but I understand your point I just need to worry about snoopy neighbors.

we already have those programs in our public schools. 1979, my daughters elementary class was questioned by their teacher about guns in the home.

Yes sir – and many doctors have been asking weird questions about firearms for quite some time.

People will be using the law to seek revenge for all sorts of petty reasons.

MM44M,

Very true, but most people aren’t cut out to be on their own. They’re uncomfortable in their own skins with nature and their thoughts as company. The spirit that built this company is highly diluted, and is now seen as an aberration.

Umm so now it’s gonna be “I lost all my kids in a boating accident?”

Nawman,

Blinds keep them from seeing in, Peeping tom calls to the cops should force them to act or admit that THEY are doing it, Fishnets bring them down, boots finish them off.

Satellite can now ‘see’ thru the walls. 24/7 , from horizon to horizon, from any direction. People, when Kennedy was Pres. , he showed us the live feed on screen in the Oval Office, the brand name of a cigarette a Cuban soldier in Cuba, was smoking while guarding a Soviet missile installation. That was ‘caveman’ satellite tech. compared to to-day. Imagine, were sitting at home, watching TV and Kennedys tour of the White House. Then he goes in the Oval Office, hits a button, and shows the country some Cuban, in live time,in Cuba, smoking his cigarette, and we can read the… Read more »

Actually, it was the ability to read a license plate on a truck. Senator Leahy (D-VT) was on the Senate Intelligence Committee and remarked in public, that we could not only read the plate number, but tell if the driver needed a shave. He now holds the dubious honor of being the only senator removed from the committee for divulging TS info, multiple times. His nickname since, is “Leaky Leahy”.

When ‘they’ feel strong enough, I can assure you, house x house, block x block, building x building they will search. 4473 forms to guide them in the beginning. When thats done,’they’ will search w/o warrant any place, any time ‘they’ feel like it. It will become routine to see military patrols on the street, check points on roads.

Just start reporting the Socialists as having guns and that they scare you the way they wave them around. Start letting them get the 4:00 AM raids with the doors kicked in We are fighting this same socialism here in NM along with an expanded Red Flag law allowing the police to decide to just confiscate your firearms if they feel like it with absolutely no due process. Getting to be more and more like North Korea and The Socialist Republic of China. And another thing, WE NEED to STOP using the propaganda term “GUN VIOLENCE” and correct everyone you… Read more »

Excellent analogy. In all three cases, the laws would just be the bad ideas of politicians, if only . . .

McCarthy is a “team player” with Democrats. We don’t need Republican “firecrackers” to be team players with McCarthy:

The State’s power and authority end at my front door.

I’m thinking of going to the west coast with a shovel. I want to start digging and separate the states of Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. California, Oregon, and Washington, can quietly slip into the ocean.

Commies and Nazis were both socialists, but the commies were hardcore leftists and the Nazis were hardcore rightists.

The commies hated the Nazis and the Nazis hated the commies! They hated each other so much they went to war in 1941.

Socialists A went to war with socialists B: it gets more complex than that but this explanation will do.

Politicians with laws never stop bad guys with guns. They only control the good guys, which is their true agenda The bad guy with a gun…..or the gang member with a gun…. the mentally deficient guy with a gun……or the terribly distraught family member of a gun shooting victim…….or a gun violence survivor……or the Feelz-Gooder Social Do-Gooder….. or the the “hair-on-fire, we’re-all-gonna-die” contingent……are the politician’s easily manipulated Useful Idiot Tools to achieve his power and control agenda. The new agenda for humanity requires that no one will have the capacity to fight back. It has been said: “Our Task of… Read more »

Several gun shows ago, I took all my guns in and gave them to dealers for free. Glad theyre gone & no more worries. I suggest everyone do the same. Last few yr. Ive bought a hunting lic. to help out our DNR, and bought a deer tag too. I go w/others and drive deer for them. I read somewhere that tech. was so advanced,a satellite could ‘see’ thru the walls of a building, so from horizon to horizon, satellites at work,24/7. OH and ya, I almost forgot. I recommend for entertainment only, a great book titled ” Unintended Consequences… Read more »
