At the 2026 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, GLOCK officially announced something a whole lot of concealed carriers and everyday shooters have wanted for a long time: factory 15-round magazines for the G43X, G48, and G44.
For years, G43X and G48 owners have had to choose between sticking with the factory 10-round magazines or going to aftermarket options to get more onboard capacity. Some of those aftermarket magazines have worked well for some shooters, but many have also come with tradeoffs. In a lot of cases, getting them to run the way people want has meant swapping parts, changing the magazine catch, or trusting a setup that was never truly factory from top to bottom.
According to GLOCK, the new 15-round SLIMLINE magazines for the G43X and G48 feature a metal double-stack design that still allows users to keep the standard magazine catch.
That means more capacity in a factory magazine without having to modify your pistol. For concealed carriers and armed citizens who trust the G43X and G48 for personal protection, this is a big deal.
The G43X and G48 have both earned loyal followings because they hit a sweet spot. They are slim, easy to carry, easy to shoot, and much more comfortable for daily concealed carry than thicker double-stack handguns for many people. The tradeoff and complaint has always been capacity. Ten rounds is now the bare minimum for most 9mm carry pistols on the market; these magazines correct that. Reports indicate that the new magazines protrude from the magwell slightly more than the 10-round magazines, but that is well worth the extra capacity.
It gives G43X and G48 owners what many of them have wanted from the start: more ammo in a carry gun they already know, already trust, and carry well.

For those who carry every day for self-defense, that matters. More onboard ammunition without giving up concealability is always going to get attention. The entire reason guns like the G43X and G48 became so popular is that they are practical defensive pistols for real-world use. Now, GLOCK is finally giving owners a true OEM capacity upgrade that makes those pistols even more appealing.
The same goes for the GLOCK 44. The G44 may not be a centerfire carry gun, but it has a place for training, introducing new shooters to the platform, and more affordable range time. A factory 15-round magazine for the G44 makes that pistol more enjoyable and more useful. More rounds between reloads is never a bad thing on a .22 LR trainer, and having that extra capacity in a factory magazine is a nice improvement for anyone who uses the G44 to build reps or sharpen fundamentals.
Personally, I own all three of these pistols and look forward to adding these new 15-round OEM magazines to my loadout.
That is especially true for the G43X and G48. Both pistols have long been outstanding options for everyday carry, but this announcement makes them even more compelling. Instead of relying on aftermarket magazine designs that may require modifications to the pistol to work properly, GLOCK owners are now getting a factory-supported option that keeps things simple. No new magazine release. No parts swapping. Just more capacity in an OEM magazine designed to function with your GLOCK pistol.
When people carry a handgun to protect themselves and their families, reliability is everything. Factory parts matter. Factory magazines matter. GLOCK knows that, and so do the people who depend on these pistols every day. That is why this announcement is likely to generate so much excitement among G43X and G48 owners in particular.
In many ways, this feels like GLOCK giving the market what it has been asking for.
OEM 15-round magazines for the G43X and G48 are the sort of product that should have immediate appeal to the concealed-carry crowd, and the G44 update is a nice bonus for training-minded shooters who want more out of their rimfire pistol. With dealer availability expected in May 2026, it should not be long before these magazines start finding their way into range bags, spare mag pouches, and everyday carry setups across the country.
For GLOCK owners who have been waiting for a factory answer to the slimline capacity question, that wait is finally almost over.
