Language changes over time as people use it and modify it to suit their needs. “Don we now our gay apparel” in the old Christmas carol was not an invitation to a cross dressing party: i.e. the meaning of the word “gay” has changed since the song was written. So what did “well regulated” mean to the people who wrote, debated, and ratified the Second Amendment?
