Home Invasion in Carmichael, CA, Ends in Deadly BUT Justified Self-Defense Shooting

CARMICHAEL, CA – In a shocking incident in the quiet community of Carmichael, a man was shot and killed in what authorities have deemed a justified act of self-defense. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday at an apartment on Sutter Avenue.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call from a resident of the Sutter Crossing Apartments. The caller, a new boyfriend living with his girlfriend, reported that he had shot an intruder who had forcibly entered the apartment and assaulted him. According to Sergeant Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, the intruder was identified as the girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.

Initial reports indicate that the ex-boyfriend had been banging on the apartment door for about 20 minutes. When the girlfriend eventually opened the door, he forced his way inside and immediately confronted her new partner. A physical altercation ensued, during which the new boyfriend, acting in self-defense, retrieved a legally registered firearm and shot the intruder, who was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has determined that no charges will be filed against the shooter, concluding that he acted within his rights to defend himself.

“If you are presented with a lethal threat in your own home, you are entitled to defend yourself, even if it means using deadly force,” explained local attorney Michael Wise.

Wise also highlighted that under California’s “stand your ground” law, individuals have the right to defend themselves against intruders without the duty to retreat. This case underscores the importance of legal firearm ownership for personal protection.

Residents of the normally peaceful apartment complex expressed their shock and dismay at the violent incident. Neighbors, who described the area as typically quiet and safe, were rattled by the news. “It’s scary to think something like this could happen right here,” said one resident who wished to remain anonymous.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident but has confirmed that both the new boyfriend and his girlfriend are cooperating fully. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Coroner’s Office.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of domestic disputes and the critical role of self-defense laws in protecting individuals from harm within their own homes.

For pro-gun advocates, this case reinforces the importance of the Second Amendment rights, emphasizing that responsible firearm ownership can be a crucial means of ensuring personal safety. The swift action of the resident to defend himself and his loved one highlights the life-saving potential of having access to a firearm in dangerous situations.

The community remains on edge as they await further updates from authorities, but the message is clear: in the face of an imminent threat, the right to defend oneself is paramount and protected by law.

I lived not far from there. Carmichael was considered to be the high end area back in the day 13 years ago. Too bad, but it’s kommiefornia and it’s a suburb of Sacramento so it makes total sense to me.
Glad I left.

I love a happy ending!!

shooter should get tax free status for life and the keys to the city for saving the county / state millions in trial and incarceration costs plus stopping future predation.

…………….and any rewards should come out of the paychecks of the multiple judges that allowed the predator back on the street repeatedly

“Residents of the normally peaceful apartment complex expressed their shock and dismay at the violent incident. Neighbors, who described the area as typically quiet and safe, were rattled by the news.”

Because an unwelcome violent person threatened someone in a domicile or because the victim defended himself?

Always refrain from shooting prowlers. Chances are, it’s just one of the brothers trying to celebrate diversity with you.
