A woman in DeSoto, Texas, is safe after defending herself against an armed intruder who followed her home and attempted to break in through her garage. The dramatic incident unfolded Friday night when neighbors on Raintree Circle reported hearing gunshots around 8 p.m.
According to the DeSoto Police Department, the woman noticed a dark truck trailing her after she left a nearby Taco Bell.
The truck followed her into her driveway, and a man armed with a pistol exited the vehicle. She immediately called 911, ran inside, and grabbed her handgun.
The man, later identified as 35-year-old Octavio Flores Mondragon, attempted to force his way into the home through the rear garage door while the woman screamed for help. Police dispatchers could hear the chaos on the call as the woman defended herself by firing multiple shots.
When officers arrived within minutes, they found Mondragon in critical condition inside the garage with gunshot wounds to his face and chest. A loaded pistol was recovered next to him. He was transported to a local hospital and is now facing charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony.
The woman was unharmed, and neighbors expressed their gratitude for her quick and decisive action to put down the attacker.
“I just heard one gunshot go off first, then two more,” recalled DJ James, a nearby resident who called 911. “It could’ve happened to anyone here. I’m just glad she’s okay.”
DeSoto Police are continuing their investigation and are looking into whether Mondragon may be connected to other crimes in the area.
Mondragon, who lives about a mile away from the victim, remains in critical condition. If he lives and if convicted, he faces serious prison time.
This case is just another example among thousands of the importance of self-defense rights and the ability to protect oneself in dangerous situations. As one neighbor put it, “We don’t have this kind of activity here, but it’s a reminder always to stay prepared.”
Stay safe, stay vigilant, stay armed, and be ready to return violence with violence.

Don’t forget to spay and neuter before returning them to Mexico.
She should have used a .12 gauge and dumped buckshot into his chest until the shotgun was empty. What kind of animal attempts you do what he tries to do? Animals who deserve to become extinct.
Glad she triumphed in that encounter. Only by the grace of God did she make it inside her home and gain access to her gun before he tried forcing entry. Hopefully, she now carries on her person when away from home. As Get Out correctly noted, NEVER go home if you suspect you are being followed. Call 911 and/or drive to a police station. If your “admirer” doesn’t already know where you live, you don’t need to hand them that knowledge on a silver platter. Also, if family or others live with you, do not put them in danger by… Read more »
She had to run into her house to get the gun. That seems an issue.
I wonder if he is an illegal? If so, patch him up, send him to prison and then send him to his home country after some time at hard labor. Ya, hard labor should still exist and it should be mandatory. Make these jerks earn their keep. My thought for the green agenda. Make gear reduction turbines that are pushed by man and they could generate the energy required to keep the prison going and help power the city nearby. If you are disabled you get a break depending on the disability but most criminals are healthy and to lazy… Read more »
As I have said on so many occasions (SLUGS FOR THUGS, and the game goes on) well to many of these thugs what they do is just a game to them, well for this guy the game came to a rather painful end, he may be fighting for his life but he is also loo,ING at how many decades in prison. In this case firing through the door was a good idea it took the fight out of the guy and put him on the ground. A shot in the face and one mid chest for thugs like that just… Read more »
the best gunfight you will ever win is he one you avoided. She NOTICED the truck following her, yet headed straight home. I live in a rural area and sometimes notice a car following me through several turns I make to get home. Especially if they seem to be following closer than needed, I will bypass MY street and drive on, doubling back or even if necessary taking he same large square to determine if he is following ME or just following the car that happens to be in front of him. Maybe I’ve done this for nothing a few… Read more »
I family something similar – though also to call ME so we can set up a meet. However most of the kids live far too far away to lead a pursuer to me. In any case – I prefer family members be able to handle business if it is unavoidable. They each need to be trained and armed – then avoid unnecessary confrontation, but prevail if forced.
shoot till the threat stops……..breathing!
As a society we need to do better.
F*#k criminals!!!!!!!!!
It makes zero sense to purchase a firearm for self defense if your not prepared to carry it at all times and that includes while you are in your home. You’ll never have to run and find that firearm you put in a “convenient” place if it’s in a holster on your belt. Fine motor skills go out the window under stress, if your wearing your firearm there is no need to unlock a storage box, or fumble for a key (which is probably not on you) to unlock a trigger lock, and then go unlock that other box to… Read more »
