A new nationwide survey commissioned by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) and conducted by McLaughlin & Associates has revealed a significant disconnect between public perception and actual crime data involving illegal immigrants. Despite years of border chaos and rising crime rates, a majority of voters still believe illegal aliens are less likely to commit crimes than U.S. citizens.
In the April 29, 2025 survey of 1,000 likely voters, only 33.3% said illegal immigrants commit crime at a higher rate than American citizens. By contrast, 41.6% said they do not, and 25.1% said they weren’t sure.
Breakdown by Demographics
The divide is sharpest along political and ideological lines:
- Republicans (57.9%), conservatives (54.5%), and white voters aged 41–55 (40.6%) are the only major groups who believe illegal aliens commit more crimes.
- Democrats (64.8%), liberals (69.7%), young adults aged 18–29 (only 19% said “yes”), and Black Americans (58.4%) are most likely to believe the opposite.
These beliefs stand in stark contrast to hard data and mounting evidence.
Media Narrative vs. Data Reality
Legacy media and Democratic politicians routinely claim that illegal immigrants are more law-abiding than native-born Americans. Headlines like ABC’s “No, migrants are not driving a surge in violent crime” are cited as fact. Yet real-world data tells another story.
According to Dr. John Lott’s recent op-ed published across several outlets, including Real Clear Politics, government records show:
- In 2023, the Biden administration admitted that 9% of illegal immigrants released into the U.S. had known criminal backgrounds—that’s 662,566 out of 7.4 million.
- These numbers don’t include the estimated 2 million “gotaways” who evaded Border Patrol entirely, nor the unknown millions never detected at all.
- Maricopa County, Arizona found illegal aliens made up 21.8% of all felony convictions—more than double their share of the population.
- Illegal immigrants in Arizona were found to be 142% more likely to be convicted of crimes, more likely to commit serious offenses, and more often affiliated with gangs.
Even worse, the data is often flawed or incomplete because many crimes go unreported, especially when committed against other illegal immigrants who fear deportation. This underreporting distorts FBI crime statistics and leads researchers to underestimate the impact.
Post-Election Implications
Although the 2024 presidential election is now behind us, the consequences of immigration policy remain front and center. President Trump’s reelection has renewed focus on illegal immigration, border security, and restoring law and order. The CPRC’s data confirms that many Americans have been misled by years of media spin and selective statistics.
For pro-Second Amendment Americans, this matters. When criminals—regardless of citizenship—slip through the cracks and communities are told to tolerate it, the right to self-defense becomes even more critical. Law-abiding citizens must be allowed the tools to defend themselves when the system fails to do so.

Despite real data showing that illegal aliens commit a disproportionate share of serious crimes, most Americans—thanks to political spin and a complicit press—have been convinced otherwise. But facts still matter. And when it comes to defending your home, your family, and your community, the truth should never be ignored.
Call these people what they are, they’re ILLEGAL ALIENS. And 100% of ILLEGAL ALIENS are criminals! They broke the law, either by illegal entry or by overstaying their visa. CRIMINALS!
An article in my local paper this morning tells the tale of an 22 year old Latina arrested for driving with no license! Here’s the kicker. She’s been here since she was 12 and sill does not speak English. Further more, she managed to earn an undergraduate degree from one of our local Florida Colleges.

It’s not as much as being “misled” as it is that they just don’t care. It isn’t real if Facebook doesn’t say so and researching a topic makes you a conspiracy theorist which is used in a negative manner.
