Washington, DC –-(Ammoland.com)- Ray Kelly, NYPD Commissioner has been one of the most outspoken supporters of anti-gun Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control initiatives.
Kelly regularly gave interviews in which he made his anti-gun sentiments known.
Now, according to DNAInfo, the police chief, who will no longer lead the NYPD after Bloomberg leaves office, says he needs a security detail of 6 taxpayer funded detectives to protect himself and his family.
According to the DNAInfo piece,
Citing the fact that he will remain a “high profile target” after he leaves office, Kelly informed insiders at Police Headquarters that he will request the contingent of detectives — each will remain on the city payroll making about $120,000 a year — to shepherd him around town and protect him and his family during their travels, sources told “On the Inside.”
This is further hypocrisy by elite anti-gunners who don’t believe that private citizens should be armed, but enjoy round the clock armed protection themselves.
The request would have to approved by Kelly’s replacement and would likely need the approval of City Hall as well.
The article also says that Michael Bloomberg will be hiring his entire 17 person NYPD security detail as private security, paying each member of the detail $150,000. The multi-billionaire should easily be able to afford the annual $2.5 million security costs.
Yet another example of the anti-gun hypocrisy. Bloomberg wants to see guns banned, but will enjoy round the clock protection by 17 armed individuals.

This is the first lay out of firearms, by Laws Enforcement that look like, they will work.
There are two revolvers-with scopes that no one would pick for concelled carry.The other, I know the gang guys love to hold to the side.Very Hollywood. Most look 380’s, 9mm, maybe a 40 or two and one looks .45. Of Course no history of each.
Wouldn’t it be ironic, if not only was the security detail denied.. but that he was attacked and stabbed instead of shot.

When you are in public office or are selected by another to take public office, then you have to accept risk, just like our troops in service all over the world, all the way up to POTUS.
If he feels unsafe in NYC then he is free to go live somewhere else where nobody will care about him.

He should have zero protection, he can keep his personal firearms(s) and that is that.
This is getting out of control. The NYPD Commissioner (A COP) needs a 6 man security team for 24×7 protection? And wants the tax payers to foot the bill. Citizens willing to give up the right to arm themselves have no idea what they are willing to give up. One reason why some despot wanna-be like our present leader has not dissolved the Congress, declared martial law and suspend the Constitution is the realization that so many citizens are armed. Absent the right to “keep and bear arms” we would be at their mercy. Our founding fathers knew well what was at stake when they wrote the Second Amendment. To give up that right would be an insult to their memory.
