Montana wildlife officials are considering a bold move to bring wolf numbers back down and give deer, elk, a chance. Proposing a wolf kill quota to 500 animals for the 2025-2026 season—nearly half of the estimated statewide population of 1,091 wolves.
The first wolf hunt in Wisconsin in seven years took place in February of 2021. The conditions were ideal for hunting with dogs. The harvest goal of 200 was met. 216 wolves were harvested.
Roy Eykamp recounts how to hunt wolves from an airplane in Canada. Roy is 100 years old, and living in Australia. The wolf hunt occurred in 1951.
