Scottsdale, AZ –-(Ammoland.com)- My name is Joe Sirochman owner of American Spirit Arms and I wanted to share my recent experience with Bank of America (which we have been doing business with for over 10 years).
Everyone is familiar with the latest increase in guns sales , dealers selling out of inventory, manufacturers back logged for months, large amounts revenue all generated in the last weeks.
American Spirit Arms is no exception to the overwhelming demand. What we have experienced is that our web site orders have jumped 500% causing our web site E commerce to be sending much larger deposits to BANK OF AMERICA.
Well, this threw up a huge RED Flag with Bank of America. Â So they decided to hold the deposits for further review, meaning that the orders/payments that were coming in through the web, being paid by honest customers, for goods that were shipped out by American Spirit Arms, were all help by the bank “UNDER REVIEW”
As you could imagine this made me furious…After countless hours on the phone with BANK OF AMERICA I finally got a manager in the right department that told me the reason that the deposits were on hold for FURTHER REVIEW …HER EXACT WORDS WERE AS FOLLOWS…
“WE BELIEVE YOU SHOULD NOT BE SELLING GUNS and GUN PARTS ON THE INTERNET “
I flipped out and told them that they have no right to make up their own new rules and regs..that we are a firearms manufacturer with all the proper licensing FFL (Federal Firearm license ), SOT and that we follow all Federal and All States’ rules and regulations on shipping Firearms and parts ..and that we are also Audited by ATF and Homeland Security on a regular basis.
She said that she understands that but that the deposits will be released only after they have a chance to review and clear them …I told her that this was unacceptable and the those deposits (that were a week old by now ) needed to be released ASAP, that we are a small business and rely on the revenue to run and stay operational.
After that being said another Manager got involved and released one of the deposits “to help out”.
So far to date after two weeks of sales only 1/3 of collected internet sales have been released ..I am still pissed and looking for another Bank and options.

I left the bank scene years ago. I hated the politics and misc fees all the time for simply doing business with them. Went to small Credit Unions, and couldn’t be happier. I would recommend everyone leaving the BANK and investing in their community. Not in Wall Street swindlers.
once again you need to go to bank with USAA! customer service in banking is the best in the world you with really enjoy what you’re working with! and I guarantee that they will thoroughly enjoy working in serving you. I have been banking with them since I graduated college for at least 25 years now. they make you feel like the bank is right around the corner!
Does “BOA” stand for Bank of Africa. Certainly not “America” because that means it stands for the constitution, and 2nd amendment!
MAN! I have accounts with BofA,guess its time to close them. What Banks are not ANTI-FIREARMS?
Canceling my credit card through BOA and sending a note as to why. BTW just ordered $700+ direct from ASA please alert me if the transaction is held up. Love to drop a lawsuit in their laps.

I made the switch from BOA to a CU and a couple year ago to Umpqua. No more BS from the bank, no more held deposits, no stupid charges for talking to a real person etc. And they actually care about their clients. Go figure.
BOA has allot of nerve "acting" morally superior to anyone… they are the bank that stole hundreds of millions from their shareholders in 2008 by lying about and not disclosing the facts about Merril Lynch's TERRIBLE financial condition as is required by law when BOA took over Merril.
The best way to let Bank of America know this type of activity wont be tolerated is to CLOSE OUR ACCOUNTS with them IMMEDIATELY.I just did…. The truth is folks, we all get upset with some of the things our Government and now Bank of America are doing, but weve become complacent,believe someone else will take care of it or simply dont believe any thing can be done. This is wrong but it isn't any worse then you selling gun parts on your web site charging my credit card and me not finding out till 2 weeks later that they're back ordered and I won't be receiving them for another three months.
