North Haven, CT --(Ammoland.com)- The ground-breaking series of Mossberg’s AR-magazine compatible bolt-action rifles continues to expand with the introduction of a compact Mossberg MVP Series Patrol Rifle available in 5.56mm NATO (223 Rem).

Based on the classic Mossberg 4×4 bolt-action platform, these handy carbines feature an innovative Drop-Push bolt design to accept and reliably feed from AR-style magazines, compact 16 ¼-inch medium bull barrels with optional A2-style suppressor and deliver shot-after-shot consistency with Mossberg’s Lightning Bolt Action (LBA™) Trigger System.

For 2013, four new MVP Series Patrol bolt-action rifles will be available in 5.56mm NATO including Scoped Combo versions with Comb-Raising Kits.

MVP Series Patrol Rifles are housed in durable birch wood stocks painted with a coarse black texture and feature stippling on the pistol grip and forend for more controlled handling. All exposed metalwork features a non-reflective matte blue finish. The 16 ¼-inch medium bull, button-rifled barrels have an 11-degree tapered crown and front fiber optic and barrel-mounted adjustable rear rifle sights. For enhanced accuracy and bullet stabilization, the 5.56mm NATO chamberings feature a 1:9 twist rate. Standard on all MVP Series rifles is the user-adjustable, patented LBA Trigger System. Designed for a crisp creep-free trigger pull, the LBA trigger pull is easily adjusted from 2 to 7 pounds with the simple twist of a standard screwdriver. The unique lightning bolt trigger blade blocks the sear from releasing the striker unless the blade is fully depressed, even at the lightest adjustment setting. Completing the MVP Patrol Series Rifles are factory-installed, receiver-mounted Picatinny rails; distinctive spiral-fluted bolts; front and rear sling swivel studs; and 10-round capacity magazines.

MVP Patrol Bolt-Action Rifle 5.56mm NATO – Available with standard 16 ¼-inch medium bull barrel with front fiber optic and barrel-mounted adjustable rear rifle sights (27755) or optional threaded barrel model with mounted A2-style flash suppressor and thread cap (27716). Both models are offered in Scoped Combo versions (27756/27731) which include a factory-mounted 3-9x32mm variable riflescope with illuminated reticle and convenient neoprene Comb-Raising Kit with foam inserts. MSRP: $681 – $829
