Brownells’ Big Springs Complex Hosts Pheasants Forever Gun Test

Brownells’ Big Springs Complex Hosts Pheasants Forever Gun Test – -( Fifteen shooters from several Pheasants Forever chapters recently gathered at Brownells Big Springs Shooting Complex near Searsboro, Iowa to test 20 new shotguns.

The event took shape when Joe Duggan, Pheasants Forever VP of Corporate Relations and Marketing told company president, Pete Brownell they needed a location for the annual test. Pete quickly volunteered use of the company facility.

“Pheasants Forever was a big help to us when we were developing the pheasant and quail habitat at Big Springs. I was really excited to have a chance to do something for them in return,” said company president, Pete Brownell.

Shooters spent several hours firing, handling and evaluating the guns at Big Springs trap and five-stand fields. Afterwards there was time for some fun shooting. One group chose skeet shooting while others shot an informal, winner take all, Annie Oakley, trap tournament. At the end of the day one happy shooter had a few extra dollars in his pocket.

Mark Herwig, Editor of Pheasants Forever Magazine, said, “This has been a first rate event. Pheasants Forever needs partners like Brownells to continue our habitat work and strengthen our hunting heritage. Brownells is an example to other outdoors companies of what leadership is all about. And that’s especially important at a time wildlife habitat funding and support is declining in both the public and private sectors.”

Following the day’s shooting the group convened at the Linden House B&B in Lynnville, Iowa, for drinks, dinner and conversation.
