SB-290 is a bill to protect citizens from being disarmed and charged with a crime for carrying a weapon or firearm during a mandatory evacuation ordered by the Governor or local government during a declared state of emergency.

WHY DO WE NEED SB-290?

When you're ordered under a mandatory evacuation to take your family, pets and important documents and leave your home and other belongings behind, you should not be deprived of the ability to protect yourself and your family.

You should not be denied the right to take your firearms with you rather than leave them behind for looters.

This bill is especially important for law-abiding people in a state that is prone to evacuations due to hurricanes. This bill is about your safety and the safety of your family. Read the bill here: CS/CS/SB-290 Emergency Evacuation

The bill now moves to House and the very capable hands of Rep. Heather Fitzenhagen (R-Ft. Myers) who passed the bill out of the House last year only to have it fail in the Senate.

Further to the above statement several active duty service members of units that were deployed during Katrina went to their commanding officer and informed him that they would refuse any and all orders to disarm civilians.as those orders would be illegal under the current laws. Active duty personnel have a duty to refuse illegal orders, they can be court martialed under the UCMJ if they do. These Commanding Offficers agreed with these men and said he would be issuing no such orders.

The people that authored this bill are stupid. SCOTUS has already ruled that the state can not disarm during a time of emergency. This was the result of the forced disarmament during Katrina in New Orleans with Mayor Nigan forcibly disarmed citizens. The SCOTUS ruled that Nigan had to return all firearms and he acted illegally. Also there is no such thing as mandatory evacuation under of color of law. This is an illegal law and it is everyone’s duty to resist and resist by force of arms if necessary.

I hold nothing but contempt for anything democrat. They have proven beyond any doubt the party is before ANYTHING including America and ALL freedoms and liberty she used to represent. Every democrat who is an admitted socialist should be tried for treason. And there are over 80 in washington today.
