Raton, NM -(AmmoLand.com)- Both Precision and Defensive Academies were extremely busy this past month at the Whittington U.

We offered multiple courses in each of the Schools with over 70 people trained! We could not have asked for better people to shoot with either, the people that come through our doors are some of the best that we will ever meet!

School of Practical Pistol – Very First Masters: No-Light Course!

The School of Practical Pistol held six separate courses of instruction from Fundamental Foundation Building in our PPI Course to the Emotional Response of PPII to Lowlight/Support Side Engagements of PPIII. Students are exposed to a complete path through the School of Practical Pistol, complete with our Modified High Ready Retention Position that ensures a Consistent-Efficient-Safe interaction with the firearm tool regardless of the environment.

The Practical Pistol Masters: No-Light used the topic of lowlight/no-light situations, while incorporating shooting while in motion. The majority of this course took place during the night, with each day of class ending at 0300-0400. As with all of our lowlight instruction, we begin our drills in hours of daylight before engaging under periods of darkness.

The second day of the Masters: No-Light began at 2230 hrs and was comprised of 100% Scenario Engagements. Students negotiated No-Light Scenarios that ranged from workplace shootings, civil disorder and personal assault situations. The Scenarios revolved around events taken out of news reports, to help add to the validity of the instruction: Training for Everyday.

The School of 1000 Yards held a Precision Long Range Series (I-III), with three Private Courses in the Backcountry Training Area in July. This a lot of time spent with students working from a strong Fundamental Foundation of Understanding/Interaction, Environmental Considerations (PLR I) to Adjusting for the Angle of the Target (PLR II) to Targets of Unknown Distance (PLR III). Our Precision Long Range Series is a complete path through precision with the goal of a holistic understanding of Equipment, Environment and Self.

We seen some very exciting things happen on the range, as we always do. That is one of the great things about the WU Precision Academy: we get to put every piece of equipment to the test and monitor exactly how our environment is changing to affect the projectile as it travels to the target.

We take a very educationally focused approach to our courses in the School of 1000 Yards and School of Extreme Long Range, with the ability to speak from experience and the utilization of empirical data.
