Baltimore-(Ammoland.com)- As previously reported, the Baltimore City Council held a public hearing on October 25 on a bill that would ban mere possession of any replica toy guns that could be “reasonably perceived” (by someone, somewhere) to be a real firearm. On October 20, MSI and the NRA filed letters with the City, making numerous points why the proposal would be bad law and bad policy. After receiving our letter (and the NRA’s), the City’s Solicitor, in a letter dated October 24, has now told the Council the same thing. A copy of that letter can be found here.

However, the proponents of the bill have not given up. Councilman Kraft recessed the hearing on October 25 without a vote on the legislation, but the Council will hold a work session on October 31 at 10:30 am in the Reeves Conference Room on the 4th Floor of City Hall. All are welcome to attend and we urge our membership in the City of Baltimore to do so. Additionally, we have replied with our own letter to be placed into the record for that session; a copy of that letter can be found here.

About Maryland Shall Issue:

Mission Statement: Maryland Shall Issue is an all volunteer, non-partisan effort dedicated to the preservation and advancement of all gunowners’ rights in Maryland, with a primary goal of CCW reform to allow all law-abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon; and to the education of the community to the awareness that ‘shall issue’ laws have, in all cases, resulted in decreased rates of violent crime.
