USA -(Ammoland.com)- Walker’s, the industry pioneer in electronic hearing protection and enhancement, introduces the entirely new XCEL Series Muffs. The radical design was inspired by taking an unconventional approach to engineering the best electronic muffs available.

The patent-pending XCEL moves the digital control panel and microphones off the muff cup to the headband resulting in more air space inside the cup helping to deliver better protection.

The XCEL’s power & performance goes well beyond it cutting edge design. Powered by an advanced digital chipset, the XCEL is loaded with features that avid outdoorsman & shooting enthusiasts demand.

The modern sound enhancement features are taken to next level with four selectable modes. Universal mode is tuned for overall amplification while Speech Clarity mode is specifically tuned to reduce ambient noise & focus on enhancing vocal frequencies providing a valuable tool where clear communication is critical.

High frequency & Power boost modes provide additional options for tuning the XCEL to hear exactly what you need to such as the ring of Steel. Navigating the various modes is easy thanks to programmed voice prompts, taking the guesswork out of know which mode you are in.

The XCEL employs the next generation of SAC (Sound Activated Compression) by incorporating Variable Dynamic Sound Suppression that automatically adjusts the compression time based on the power level of the potentially damaging noise. This helps to deliver the optimum hearing protection in any situation.

Additional features included programmable auto shut off and wind noise reduction.

The XCEL is available in two models. The XCEL100 and the XCEL500BT which brings the added feature of Bluetooth® connectivity allowing you to stream audio from your mobile device including taking phone calls.

If the type of activity requires your ear flush with a fire arm, then muffs might not be for you. Don’t make that complaint on theses muffs alone. I started putting in one foam plug in the ear near the stock side, then I still get all the bennifits. Muffs are great for pistols , RO duties, being at a table where others are shooting and you need to talk/give direction.

I ordered a pair from western rivers.com after two days they refunded my money and said they will not be shipping them till the first week in February due to aesthetic problems.

NRR 30 for both XCEL 100 and XCEL 500BT.

Eic

Thanks for posting that. Is that passive or active NRR?

NOT NRR 30 – Cut & Paste Spec: Sound dampening composite housing; NRR 23; Sound Activated Compression 0.02 second reaction time…

Jim has a legit complaint and so do i. And i bet most of you out there shooting have the same problem. Please if anyone out there has a solution to this problem, let me know. I like the style and looks my self but how can any one shoot with them on and not be affected by their awkward size against the stock. OR Is it just me.

jim

My biggest complaint with muffs is when rifle shooting the stock makes them “creep” or rather pushes them off of my ear.
I usually just use dense foam plugs while shooting rifle.
If taking the circuitry off the muffs makes them thinner and less likely to be pushed out of the way by the stock, then job well done.

I have same problem with over ear protection. Got a set of the Walkers Silencer electronic ear buds. Very glad I did, they work very well for me so far. I like them a lot.

Lol…who cares if they reduce noise levels, They Look Terrific…

Jacob Maczuga

It would be nice if this piece stated the decibel reduction of these muffs.
