AK-47 Kalashnikov
AK-47 Kalashnikov

Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- The indestructible, ubiquitous Kalashnikov:

With “Sleepy Joe” naively predicting that, as president, he’ll make “smart guns” the only kind available (even though none exist, nor have ever existed), while simultaneously causing all other guns to magically dematerialize, it none-the-less seems there is no shortfall of “regular guns” everywhere else in the world, even in places where they’re “banned,” and have been for decades.

Take the AK, for example:

AKs have been manufactured (starting in the USSR, but today in dozens, probably hundreds, of other nations) since 1948. There have been over 200 (mostly indistinguishable) variants of the original AK design manufactured between then and now, in Russia alone.

Over the past seventy years, millions of AKs have also been manufactured in factories in China, Bulgaria, Cuba, Egypt, India, Iran, North Korea, Turkey, Sudan, Venezuela, the USA, et al, as well as in tiny workshops, unofficial and unlicensed, from Pakistan, to South Africa, to the Philippines.

Millions were never serialized, and are thus untraceable.

Of the ones that are serialized, over a hundred-million have likely been produced. The actual figure may well be twice or three times that.

They’ve been legaly imported or smuggled into, and can be currently found in, literally every nation on Earth.

Of all the AKs ever produced, there is no reason that given basic care virtually one-hundred percent are still fully-functional and eminently useable.

Fighters in all parts of the world daily rely upon their AKs, still perfectly functional, built in the early 1950s, even late 1940s, long before most of the people carrying them were born!

Not even counted in the foregoing are Israeli Galils, Finnish Valmets, South African R4s, and a host of others which are little more than knock-offs of the original AK, also found worldwide.

Despite adolescent pronouncements by sleazemaster politicians, like Sleepy Joe, that threats to your personal safety are “overblown,” and that therefore you don’t “need” guns, he curiously doesn’t take that same attitude toward threats to his own safety, does he now?

“Old-school small arms,” like the AK, are everywhere, have audaciously defied naive “bans,” and are hardly “obsolete.” In fact, they probably never will be.

The wise keep them around.

In the hands of the well-trained, they still get the job done.

Oh yeah!

“An ‘air of intelligence’ can be conveyed at small risk, for all one need do is assert that the normal response to a particular phenomenon is ‘prejudiced.’

They (socialists) always begin by remarking that ‘It has too often been said…,’ and then go on to declare that reality is something quite different and has, at long last, been ‘discovered’ (by them, of course).

When that strategy is applied to things that are evident and universally known, it will doubtless be ‘politically incorrect’ to acknowledge that a lion is a carnivore and that he is not safe to meet.” ~ Frithjof Schuon

It would be ironic for North American freedom fighters to be reduced to using weapons originated by communist dictators. But, in a pinch they will do fine. Rifles made for the people, by other people. At a fair price to boot.

This kind of touches on another issue, on how it is often fake news misreported that 90% of all crime scene guns found in Mexico come from the U.S. This is a lie. As noted above, millions upon millions of guns have been made all over the world – outside of the U.S. – without serial numbers, and needless to say, fully automatic because only in America do we cripple the perfectly good M-16 / M4’s with their select fire lever for full-auto, 3 round burst, or semi-auto settings, down to semi-auto only and then call them AR-15’s. Ditto with… Read more »

Well said , sir!

D.S.

Thank you all for replies. I am in Florida, but don’t think it’s worth getting full auto. I’d rather have a new truck first. Lol.

I wish these “intelligent writers” you have would stop using “socialist” and “liberal” as a dirty word.
There’s a lot of countries that have some socialist aspects in government – even us like social security, fire, police, Medicare etc.
Look up the definition !
Plus there’s just as many gun loving liberal’s out there as conservatives. Lots of people on both sides dont have guns. Gimmie a break.

USA

We have tons of gunning liberals here and though they vote socialist they too do not comply to all the unconstitutional gun laws. They’re the first ones to vote for unconstitutional gun laws and the first ones to refuse compliance. When asked why they vote for those laws they say they didn’t. They vote to get rid of guns then go buy guns. Nobody here can figure out liberal logic which is obviously an oxymoron but hey NGO NRA members been supporting unconstitutional gun laws forever too. Attorneys see both sides coming from very long distance. Pay the bills and… Read more »

Here’s your reality dumbass: Virtually all gun banners are DemonRATS. Most of the murderers and mass killers are DemonRATS or from DemonRAT families. Conservatives own guns. At more than a hundred to one versus DemonRATS and DemonRATS are more likely to use their guns in criminal activities by about the same margin. Socialism is just communism in a slightly milder form. Socialism also metastasizes into communism eventually whether they call it that or not. People in socialist/communist countries are far less safe because they not only are not allowed to have protection against criminals but also have to worry about… Read more »

The gun banning cults and gun banning politicians never cease to amaze me. First they wanted to ban Uzis ( because of movies and Miami Vice), next it was “Glocks” (all the airplane hijackers have one), then in the 1990’s they passed the Brady Bill saying every gang member in America owned a AK-47, Styer Aug, H&K 91 and 93, Uzi, etc. Where have you everyheard of gang membets or drug dealers walking down the street with one? Even on the nightly news if there is a stabbing they show a picture of a handgun. Democrats politicans want to ban… Read more »

TV news backdrop pictures that I could think of that I’ve seen use the word, “CRIME” and a picture of a handgun for a report on ANY kind of crime. Brainwashing and conditioning all of the sheep/Pavlov’s dogs.

It’s really weird though. Once you get one and tear it down, you look at the parts in amazement, like “That’s a SPRING?!”. They look like cheap garbage (Norinco style), their tolerances are horrendous. But that’s why they keep going bang after being dropped in the mud.

I’ve owned an ak for years and it is very reliable weapon. it is very inexpensive to shoot with steel case ammo. I prefer the AK over the ar15.

Texas Jim

Dammit…You can still own “ONE” (AK)..You have to quit dragging your feet and pissing & moaning…Although AK’s today are a bit more pricey than they used to be, they still are very affordable… And ammo (steel case) is incredibly cheap & affordable also. Quit’cher Pissin’ & Moanin’ and buy an AK..

Sierra556

I like the C39V2 MOE, US made edition. Feels real good, looks even better but alas, l’ve yet to pull the trigger. Very nicely made l will say and reasonably priced.

LUVITORLEEVIT

I sure wish the Hell that I owned one!!!!!!!!

You sure? The ones I looked at were all semi-automatic, therefore not REAL AK-47s. I used a M-16A2 in the Army, but in civilian life I have to settle for an AR-15. In CA, DE, DC, HI, IL, MA, MN, NJ, RI, WA, WI you cannot own a fully automatic weapon.

D.S.

Is there any state where you can have fully automatic weapons? I always thought that for civilians fully automatic weapons are not allowed, period.

MikeRoss

They’re only totally forbidden in DE, DC, HI, IL, RI, WA, NY, IA. In other states like CA, NJ, MA, NC they’re technically allowed, but you have to get a special license from the state, which they rarely issue, or permission from the sheriff in NC. The paperwork required, and the expense turn most people off but if you live in a ‘Class 3’ state you can have one if you can afford it and jump through the NFA hoops.

Ejharbet

Short answer full auto NOT illegal! Long answer start with a clean nose and enough money to buy a new car if you want a “real” akm or m16

JoeUSooner

Almost correct, DS… But any fully-automatic machine gun that was built prior to 1986 was “grandfathered” in when the prohibition against civilian ownership was legislated. NO post-1986 machine guns can be owned by civilians, at all. Of course, civilian ownership of those pre-1986 machine guns is carefully regulated and requires extensive background checks [plural] and a “tax” stamp, which means that ownership takes many months to get approved. Supply-and-demand determines that old machine guns, rarely available on the open market at all, carry very expensive price tags… generally ranging in the tens of thousands of dollars. Obviously, huge initial cost… Read more »
