AR Rifle Ownership up while Violent Crime Rates Trend Downward: Aero Precision Custom AR15 Rifles

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- The FBI has released its crime data for 2018 and the news is good. Violent crime dropped 3.3 percent in 2018 compared to 2017. According to the report, a decrease was seen across nearly every type of violent crime.

Looking at a 10-year trend, the numbers of violent crimes were down a full 9 percent from 2009 through 2018. The rate shows a more dramatic drop:

“There were an estimated 368.9 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in 2018, a rate that fell 3.9 percent when compared with the 2017 estimated violent crime rate and dropped 14.6 percent from the 2009 estimate.”

Homicides with firearms were down 7 percent from 2017. And in stark contrast to the theatrics of last week’s House Judiciary Committee on banning modern sporting rifles, rifles were again only used in 2 percent of homicides, far less than the share committed with knives (11 percent) or hands and feet (5 percent).

MSR Ownership Up. Crime Down

This chart says it all. Through 2016, there have been over 16 million modern sporting rifles in the hands of law-abiding citizens. Meanwhile, violent crime is declining. The message is clear. Tragic criminal actions must be addressed. Banning certain types of firearms is not the answer.

Real Solutions

The firearms and ammunition industry shares the goal of finding the root causes of criminal violence and has created programs over the years to help address safety practices and problems of unauthorized access. The firearms and ammunition industry prides itself on high rates of compliance and on our voluntary programs, often in partnership with local, state and federal government agencies, to help curtail the actual problems of guns illegally getting into the wrong hands.

  • We work to make sure states are submitting all prohibiting records to NICS.
  • We provide millions of free gun locks and educational materials in all states.
  • We train our members to spot straw purchasers, to comply with all laws, and to use discretion when making transactions and keeping their inventory secure.
  • We work with the Defense Department, Department of Veterans Affairs and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help address the crisis of suicides in our country.

In short, it is time for Real Solutions. Safer Communities to help continue the trend of declining violence in our country.

I’m wondering where all these numbers for AR ownership or no. of in circulation is coming from? How many people admit to owning what….I don’t. Are these numbers coming from the same people that has said there’s 13 million illegals in the country & that number was before Obutthead was in office…..Well I’m sure there’s over 50 million illegals around + offspring and the 16 million AR’s I’ve heard echoing for a long time!

While this has been a chaotic and fanatical 3+ years I think we, as law-abiding citizens, will see this as a historical period. Had these fanatical liberals not enthusiastically targeted semi-auto rifles and unapologetically lied regarding their usage in violent crime, I think many would have assumed that further legislation was “common sense”. At the same time, liberals have shown their true colors by perpetually trying to overthrow an elected President on one frivolous allegation after the next. Then Beto openly attacks the First Amendment only weeks after openly proposing the violation of the Second Amendment. The curtain has been… Read more »

Let’s not forget that the economy is better now and some of these want to be criminals are busy working so they don’t have time for mischief. On the other hand, criminals are being let out of prison so they can do more crime. Dog chasing it’s tail? Keep buying the AR’s they are fun to shoot and a very good defence weapon.

AR Rifle ownership will go even higher if these anti-gun politicians keep running their gums about coming to take them from law abiding citizens. O’Rourke threatened law abiding citizens with confiscation of their weapons, bet he didn’t expect the “Come and take them” pushback he’s gotten either.

If they would address the real problems of gang violence and lack of personal responsibility our violent crime would be nearly zero.

In another words the shooting industry is involved in violating “shall not be infringed” and only wants the good slaves to be armed. Flame on. But that’s the facts maam.

Address violent crime at its sources: blue utopias. Major urban areas dominated by Progressive New Left governments constitute the greatest threat to civil peace. Deal with Chicago, Baltimore, LA and other blue utopias and crime stats of all types take a nose dive.

I’ve been reading on the Quora forum the last week or so. People ask questions there (on all topics, but for some reason I only get notified of gun-related). Often, the gun questions are loaded, like “How can you justify continued sales of assault weapons when they kill so many children?” In any case, from the responses and replies to responses, it seems like liberals are not very smart. No original thoughts. Only repetition of the left’s shouting points along with the selective stats the left likes to quote. It’s hard to get into a closed mind. My point? We… Read more »
