Rioter Points Gun At Reporter During Kenosha Riots

KENOSHA, WISC-(Ammoland.com)- Riots have broken out in the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, over the police shooting of an unarmed black man named Jacob Blake. Fires broke out across the city, and rioters flashed guns at reporters trying to cover the unrest.

According to witnesses, Blake was trying to break up a fight when police showed up to the scene. The police drew their guns and ordered Blake down to the ground. Blake ignored the order and walked away from the police to his car, where his three children were located. He continued to ignore police commands, opened his door, and reached inside.

At this point, police opened fire, hitting the 29-year-old man in the back. Blake survived, but the gunshot wounds hospitalized him. He is now paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors say it is too early to know if he will walk again. Democratic governor, Tony Evers, condemned the police shootings even before viewing the video and called in members of the national guard to protect the city from unrest. He set an 8PM curfew in the city.

After the curfew passed, protestors filled the streets of Kenosha. Rioters broke windows of local businesses, looted stores, and set fires around the city. One of the buildings that arsonists burned down was a Wisconsin department of corrections building. Rioters threw bottles and shot fireworks at police as they prevented the mob from reaching the courthouse to burn it down.

The riots were somewhat held in check, not by police or national guards, but armed citizens that showed up to protect their business and their homes from the angry crowds and black lives matter and Antifa members. These citizens managed to prevent more damage from being done by the mob but didn’t have to engage them. Their mere presence deterred the rioters.

Blaze Media reporter Elijah Schaffer of Slightly Offensive was on the scene filming the lawlessness on the streets after the curfew went into effect in the city. The reporter was interviewing rioters on why they were rioting. Schaffer has made a career of interviewing unhinged protestors on his YouTube channel.

The self-identified Black Lives Matter protestor pulled out a pistol while walking down the street, points it at the camera that Schaffer was holding, and seems to pull the trigger. In the video, Schaffer posted to his Twitter account there is an audible click heard from the gun before the protestor sticks the firearm back into his pocket.

“HOLY SH*#: while interviewing this #BLM rioter in Kenosha [sic] he pulls out a real pistol and points it at my camera while explaining what we would do to cops if they rolled up on us right now,” Schaffer tweeted out via the social media platform.

“It’s been a while since I had a gun pointed at me even if it was just to make a point,” the reporter added.

According to Schaffer, the rioter was showing what he would do if the police showed up to the protest. The reporter backed off that protesters but continued to show the destruction around the city by the angry rioters.

AmmoLand reached out to Schafer, but as of this writing, he has not returned our request for comment. The city has placed the police officers involved in the Blake shooting on administrative leave.

I find it interesting that a group of peaceful protesters can mobilize so quickly, almost like they were sponsored.

Unarmed? I guess I’m the only one who heard police yelling “drop the knife?” This privileged person had warrants for domestic battery and rape so when the police attempt to arrest him he not only ignores their commands he also walks over to a car reportedly to recover a gun. BLAKE put those children in jeopardy, not the police! Sorry, that’s not unarmed or innocent in my book. Yet now he is the national darling poster child of the loony left. I couldn’t care less that he is reportedly paralyzed below the waist. He was “paralyzed” above the shoulders for… Read more »

If almost all of these Blacks had followed the instructions of the police, THEY WOULD BE ALIVE TODAY, starting with Brown!!! Fact is, the Black Community thinks it ought to be able to flaunt the law with impunity! Well, this country just does not work that way, you A******S!!!

#BLM rioter in Kenosha violated brandishing and assault with a fire arm, got pictures, prosecute. Its also possible possession could be an issue.

Use the existing laws to control gun violence.

This story is not accurate from the start, Blake was resisting the cops and broke loose from them before trying to get in his vehicle or get something out of it, the word knife was heard in one video.
The cops were aware of an outstanding warrant on Blake and Blake wouldn’t comply with the cops demands.
Also if a curfew was in place what gives an internet reporter the right to be out there breaking the curfew.

“Also if a curfew was in place what gives an internet reporter the right to be out there breaking the curfew.”

There is something called the Constitution. It has something called the 1st Amendment. It also has something called the 2nd Amendment. You might want to look that up, before arguing for a police state.

I am using the first amendment to voice my concerns but I’m not under an imposed curfew order for the safety of the town from rioters who destroy private property in civil unrest.
I am very well up to date on the constitution and the rights that are granted under it.

You are apparently unaware of the Constitution, otherwise you would not suggest that a mere curfew order is able to suspend it. In history, assuring “law and order” has always been used to suspend rights. The press has a constitutional right to cover events as they unfold and no curfew order is superseding the 1st Amendment!

I guess you and I see things different, I don’t classify internet bloggers in the same league as Newspaper or TV reporters, maybe you think that anyone who has a smart phone or laptop can run around and say they are the Press, I don’t.

So, you are some authority that classifies who belongs to the press and who doesn’t and who gets protections under the 1st Amendment and who doesn’t? Interesting perspective of selective application of the Constitution, on a gun blog nonetheless. You could run for office with that attitude! 50% of the country will always vote for someone taking their rights away. PS: Newspapers are dead and mostly consist of Internet bloggers these days. Newspapers and TV stations get their information from Internet bloggers on the ground. The fact that we have so much video in defense of the shootings is due… Read more »

I hate to jump in uninvited but I really must point out that “journalists” on the network news and the large papers and magazines are pretty much no longer reporting the facts and events impartially. Which disqualifies them as journalists.

The bar is so low, even those with degrees are far short of the standards we were accustomed to pre 21st century.

IOW I do not see much of a dropoff from credentialed reporter to blogger to be honest. And many internet writers are excellent, and not bought and paid for like these talking heads on our boob tube.

The rights under the Constitution were not granted by the Constitution. They were given by God and The Constitution (Bill of Rights) merely affirms that Government cannot take them away. That would be Treason, but then again, Dr. Franklin said, ” If you can keep it” The tree is getting real thirsty.

@UncleDudley – Other than force of arms, what authority do these governments have to impose a curfew? I generally prefer to be in bed at these hours, but that does not negate my right to – go anywhere and do anything not harmful – on public property. Whatever qualifies as pursuing happiness and does not hurt others!

When Police are ordering you to stop and you ignore them, you then have taken the responsibility upon yourself that you might get shot. That should be a no-brainer.

I tried to explain that same thing to my sensitive female counterpart, but she doesn’t seem to understand why he was shot “SEVEN TIMES?”.

It does seem to be a no brainer.

I found the video of two troopers in PA that allowed a criminal to reach his gun inside his driver side door, showed that to her, and I think after dragging her high heels for a couple of days she will understand.

True love for sure. Good to see you take the time to explain the scenario to her. I’d really like to know what type of caliber & ammo the cop was using ? My guess would be a 9mm or 40 cal. Are the police required to use a certain weapon & ammo ?
